No doubt there's a very talented player in there somewhere but apart from half-seeing him score a belter through a bar window while on my honeymoon in August, I'm not sure I've seen him do anything else.

What a chance that is, as Chris Smalling gets it all wrong, losing his footing as the last man and missing a routine clearance, the ball falling for Daniel Sturridge. One touch to set, to cock the rifle, and then he hammers the shot on goal but David de Gea makes a flying save.

Great stop, but he should be scoring there.

Manchester United are not getting a second here - and that was a moment of brilliance from keeper David de Gea to stop Philippe Coutinho adding a second.

Liverpool's fans sense United are here for the taking at the moment and Louis van Gaal's side are offering little in response.

United without a shepherd? They have two of the best herders in the business on the bench in Michael Carrick and Bastian Schweinsteiger. I think it's actually a border collie that they are lacking in their, er, flock.

Or something. 

Bunwi Aweda: Manchester United playing like a sheep without Shepherd. Lucky to be a goal down after 26 minutes. Carrick needed.

Dessie Drum: Missed chances. Liverpool will lose this. 

Stuart Margitson: There's no way this will finish 11 v 11.

Louis van Gaal's side had a great first 20 seconds but since then it's been one-way traffic. Can Liverpool take advantage and build a lead?
