If Manchester United think they have it tough tonight, what about Tottenham?Outworked and outclassed in Germany last week they need three goals just to get to extra time tonight. And they've not picked Harry Kane.

Liverpool fans are hugely outnumbered inside Old Trafford tonight but they are in buoyant and noisy mood as the two teams are out on the pitch warming up.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is, as usual, casting a keen eye over his players - and Manchester United's - as they go through their respective work-outs.

  7. Giggs or Mourinho?published at 19:25 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2016

Former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic believes the club will have a tough choice to make between Jose Mourinho and Ryan Giggs if they decide to replace Louis van Gaal as manager.

Van Gaal is contracted until the end of 2016-17 but has come under pressure during a disappointing season at Old Trafford.

United legend Giggs and ex-Chelsea and Real Madrid manager Mourinho have emerged as two of the frontrunners to take charge if and when the 64-year-old Dutchman leaves.

Speaking exclusively to the BBC at his home in Milan, in his first interview since retiring, Vidic says former team-mate Giggs understands the workings of United after nearly three decades at the club, but rates Mourinho as one of the game's best ever managers.

"I like the idea of Giggsy, but Mourinho has had success in the past," the 34-year-old said. "It's a hard choice. Is Giggsy ready or not? He knows. The club knows. I believe they will have an honest conversation."

The pressure is easing on Valancia boss Gary Neville after goals from Santi Maria and Santos put his team in the driving seat in the second leg. Before the match Neville had asked for a special atmosphere and he's getting it.

Lazio seem down and out, though, trailing 3-0 at half-time at home to Sparta Prague, opening up a 4-1 aggregate lead for the visitors.

Police have removed a banner over the M602 motorway in Salford designed to taunt Liverpool fans heading to Old Trafford ahead of tonight's Europa League game against Manchester United.

It bore the date of the Hillsborough disaster when 96 Liverpool fans died.

Police said they were alerted to the sign and removed it immediately.

Manchester United criticised fans who sang chants about the tragedy during the Europa League defeat at Liverpool on 11 March.

Offensive songs were heard during Liverpool's 2-0 win at Anfield in the first leg of their last-16 tie.

Benteke and Kolo only Liverpool players to leave for me, even Joe Allen has shown he could have a part to play under Klopp!

    From Robbie in Manchester

I would offload Joe Allen, Christian Benteke, Mario Balotelli and several youth players such as Yesil, Teixeira, Sinclair. Then add a decent spine with a new goalkeeper (Timo Horn), central midfield (Xhaka) (or Kroos) and not forgetting the infamous Mario Gotze. Dreams will be dreams.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal and midfield man Ander Herrera fought the good fight in their pre-match media briefing as they talked up their chances - but there is no doubt Liverpool are right in control of this Europa League last 16 tie with that two-goal lead.

Van Gaal's side must achieve the delicate balancing act of going in search of goals while keeping an eye on Liverpool's dangerous counter-attacking style - one away goal would surely prove fatal for United.

    Liverpool 5-1 Man Utd

Not many eyebrows were raised when midfielder Danny Drinkwater left Old Trafford in 2012 without troubling the first team.

After all he was behind Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley, Daren Fletcher, Darron Gibson, Paul Pogba (!) and er, Anderson in the pecking order.

Four years on I'm sure he would certainly be in contention for a place in the team.

Nathaniel Clyne, Adam Lallana, Daniel Sturridge, James Milner and Jordan Henderson. Are all five going to France?
