    Poland 1-0 Portugal

Portugal's 18-year-old midfielder Renato Sanches has had a good start. He plays a part in a move which sees Cristiano Ronaldo have a shot blocked and then Nani's follow-up effort is deflected into the arms of keeper Lukasz Fabianski.

    Poland 1-0 Portugal

Renato Sanches picks out Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays it to Joao Mario but he doesn't really seem to have a plan on what to do with the ball and Jakub Blaszczykowski gets back to successfully challenge him.

Portugal haven't looked great in this tournament but they need to do something today.

Robert Lewandowski's goal - after one minute and 40 seconds - is the second quickest in the history of the European Championship.

The record is Dmitri Kirichenko's goal for Russia against Greece after 65 seconds in Euro 2004.

Grosicki has had a wonderful tournament. He picked the ball up on the left and it is a wonderful ball. We said Lewandowski had missed some chances but it wouldn't continue. He got his chance and 'bang', it is in the back of the net.

There is a lot of talent out there. We haven't seen the best of them yet. Ronaldo and Lewandowski have missed a lot of chances but they will start putting them in the back of the net.

This is Portugal's seventh European Championship. They have never failed to reach the quarter-finals. They have played in the semi-finals four times and the final once, losing to Greece in 2004.

There are quite a few players who will miss the semi-final if they are booked today. Two bookings in five games costing you a semi-final place seems a bit harsh, no?

Poland: Kamil Grosicki, Krzysztof Maczynski, Sławomir Peszko, Lukasz Piszczek, Michal Pazdan, Artur Jedrzejczyk

Portugal: William Carvalho, Pepe, Ricardo Quaresma

Poland have not conceded goals. Roberto Lewandowski is about to fire, I think. He possesses all the qualities a big striker needs. He has a big game in him and I hope it is tonight.

Captains - and star men - Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski shake hands in the tunnel. There's every chance one of them will be the hero today. But which one?

Renato Sanches looks relaxed for Portugal, despite the fact he's making his first international start in a European Championship quarter-final.

  18. Portugal match factspublished at 19:50 British Summer Time 30 June 2016

Portugal are the only team to have reached the quarter-finals of the European Championship in every tournament since 1996.

Portugal have played the most games (32) in the history of the European Championship without ever winning the tournament.

They are unbeaten in their 11 competitive fixtures under Fernando Santos (W8, D3). All eight of their wins in that run have been by a single-goal margin (including the win against Croatia).

Poland's last win in the knockout stages of a major tournament (excluding the penalty shootout victory against Switzerland) was in the 1982 World Cup against France (a 3-2 win in the third-place play-off).

Poland are the lowest-scoring side to have made it to the quarter-finals (three goals in four games).

They have yet to be behind at any point in a game at this year's European Championship.

Jakub Blaszczykowski has been directly involved in all five of Poland's goals in the past two Euros (three goals, two assists).
