Portugal winger Nani, who has scored twice so far:"The group is excellent, young, all demonstrating team spirit, all pulling in the same direction and this has been one of the factors that shows we are stronger.

"We have all the conditions to go as far as possible. I think we have played good games, putting on a spectacle and against Hungary we scored a lot of goals.

"We know that Poland is a very strong team, with experienced players, like Lewandowski, but we have to focus on the team, not on one player because any player in this game can make a difference.

"If we can control all of the pieces on the pitch, I think we will have more chance than if we control just one player. We have to be at our best, to go in with the confidence to try and win the game."

Portugal boss Fernando Santos believes this will be a "50-50" game.

"Poland have been growing and they are a very strong team," Santos said.

"It will be a game between two very strong teams with very good players, both with the same goal - to move on, to be in the semi-finals.

"And my counterpart believes Poland will go through. But I believe we will go through.

"I think there are no favourites in this match. We are facing great opponents with great quality and I think this is a strictly 50-50 game. But I believe we are going to win."

  3. 'Poland expected good Euro 2016'published at 19:38 British Summer Time 30 June 2016

Poland boss Adam Nawalka: "The fact we have achieved these results at the tournament is not really a surprise for us.

"We have been expecting this from the very beginning - that by playing with a high level of football we would do well.

"My players have achieved a lot already but they want more and more.

"I am very pleased with their mental approach to this tournament, which is a very important factor. We are full of faith and optimism in approaching this match."

Paul Warren: No such thing as an easier half. Even though England were on the 'giants' side look what happened to them.

Mike: I don't mind how fixtures are arranged as long as people constantly remind us that there are 'no easy games in the finals'

  5. 'You have to cope with captaincy'published at 19:36 British Summer Time 30 June 2016

Poland captain Robert Lewandowski: "It's a great responsibility. When I first put on the armband, I didn't know that this small accessory could make such a big difference.

"You need to know how to cope with it. Not many people know how much commitment and effort is required, not just physical, but also mental."

  6. 'Rivals try to attack Lewandowski'published at 19:33 British Summer Time 30 June 2016

Poland coach Adam Nawalka wants referees to protect his striker Robert Lewandowski.

The Bayern Munich star has been fouled 16 times in four games - more than anyone else in the tournament.

"Given that he is one of the world's best strikers - in my eyes he is the best number nine in the world - he has been marked very tightly in this tournament," Nawalka said.

"Sometimes he is double or triple-marked and rivals try to attack him.

"Referees should be paying attention to some brutal fouls in football in general in order to cut out situations where an opponent eliminates a particular player at any cost."

Poland captain Robert Lewandowski has only scored once for his country in European Championship games - against Greece in their Euro 2012 opener.

Today is his eighth Euros match.

  10. Ronaldo's Euros historypublished at 19:27 British Summer Time 30 June 2016

Cristiano Ronaldo has played in more games than anyone else in European Championships (18).

He’s only one goal short of Michel Platini’s record of nine goals in the competition. Platini scored all those nine in Euro 84.

Ronaldo has scored only two goals in 12 knockout games at major tournaments (Euro 2004 semi-final and Euro 2012 quarter-final).

He has attempted 40 direct free-kicks at major tournaments but is yet to score with any of them.

At 31, today could be his final European Championship game if Portugal lose.

Ronaldo is very important for us. It is no use beating about the bush. He scored but he also plays for the team, works for the team. He is our captain and he plays like that. He is an amazing player. We should focus on that.

Poland boss Adam Nawalka says that stopping Cristiano Ronaldo is not their sole concern today.

"Football is about teamwork," he said. "There is no team where just one player decides on the outcome of the match.

"I think Portugal present themselves very well as a whole team. We need to look not only at Ronaldo but all the players. They represent a very high level and we need to play at a high level ourselves."

  13. Postpublished at 19:19 British Summer Time 30 June 2016

Portugal boss Fernando Santos: "Everyone is talking about Ronaldo and there is a reason for that - because he is an amazing player.

"It is normal to talk about a player as good as Cristiano, or Lewandowski or [Germany goalkeeper Manuel] Neuer. They are amazing players so it is a natural thing.

"Some are mentioned more often than others. But Ronaldo knows how to deal with that.

"In every game it is important every player plays their role, and that is what we are going to try to do again this time. It is the team that will win this match.

"Tournaments are won by teams and that is what our team is trying to do in every single match."

  14. 'Special to face Ronaldo'published at 19:16 British Summer Time 30 June 2016

Poland's Ajax striker Arkadiusz Milik: "It was only a few years ago that I was trying to learn from Cristiano Ronaldo as well as I could.

"It will be something special for me to play against him - it is great there is a chance for us to meet on the pitch. But, of course, I will try to focus on me and my team and not to be looking up at him."

Cristiano Ronaldo v Robert LewandowskiImage source, .

The two countries' captains have had differing tournaments. Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo has only scored two of his 31 shots - both against Hungary, trying his luck repeatedly from set-pieces and open play.

Poland's Robert Lewandowski is yet to net. But he's been a lot more reserved with his shooting, only having eight efforts.

    Poland v Portugal (20:00 BST)

Poland have named the same starting XI that began the last-16 tie with Switzerland, which they won on penalties.

Poland XI: Fabianski, Piszczek, Glik, Pazdan, Jedrzejczyk, Blaszczykowski, Maczynski, Krychowiak, Grosicki, Milik, Lewandowski.

Portugal make two changes from the 1-0 last-16 win over Croatia. Raphael Guerreiro and Andre Gomes have failed to prove their fitness and so Eliseu starts at left-back, while highly rated Renato Sanches comes in to midfield for his first international start.

Jose Fonte, Adrien Silva and Cedric all keep their places having been brought in for the previous round.

Portugal XI: Rui Patricio, Cedric, Pepe, Jose Fonte, Eliseu, William Carvalho, Adrien Silva, Renato Sanches, Joao Mario, Nani, Cristiano Ronaldo.

I think most people will be looking at this game and thinking 'if Cristiano Ronaldo is on form, Portugal will win'.

But I have been to two Poland games at Euro 2016 now, and have been very impressed with what I've seen, right through their side.

Their star striker and captain Robert Lewandowski is yet to score in France but he works hard for his team, even if he does not find the net.

Lewandowski runs the channels, drops deep, is a target man and a link man - he does absolutely everything, and is such a good leader for them as well.

They do not just rely on him, though, unlike Portugal who need one player - Ronaldo - to be at the top of his game to have a chance.
