If you missed that save from Buffon earlier on you can watch it again here. Was that the turning point in this game?

    Germany 1-1 Italy

The Germans clear but they're immediately on the back foot again. Buffon strikes a minor blow in the mental game, sauntering out of his box with the ball at his feet looking for a pass.

    Germany now. Can they respond?

Hector slips, Italy break, Eder cuts across the box and Pelle's scuffed shot is out for a corner.

The momentum has well and truly swung... 10 minutes to go...

Don't you just love it when the Italians score?! All 23 men on the pitch, all the staff are off the bench. He stroked it elegantly into the corner, no chance for Neuer.

I was surprised that Leonardo Bonucci was taking it but that was a brilliant penalty.

What are Jerome Boateng's arms doing up there? You can't put your arms in the air like that. Keep them by your side.

Leonardo Bonucci needed all his experience there, that little feint, he gets enough power onto it. "Take a look at me," he points to his face.

    Leonardo Bonucci (Pen)

That really is a lovely pen. Up against such pressure, the clock running down, the world's best keeper in front of you, Italy's centre-back Leonardo Bonucci shows no signs of crumble. A little stutter, a glance up, and Neuer is beaten into his bottom left corner. This is big.

Don't try and tell me there won't be more goals. This is Euro 2016.

Italy are buoyed by that Pelle chance, and Germany have shrunk back a touch. Fifteen to go. Can they see it out?

It's a fantastic effort by Graziano Pelle, he gambles to get across his defender but can't get it on target. It bounces in front of him.

Italy don't know when they're beaten, they'll keep on coming.

  12. CLOSE!published at 74 mins

    Germany 1-0 Italy

Looks like Thomas Muller is going to be leading the line a la Gomez now. Draxler's generally featured more out wide and in attacking midfield.

Hang on a minute. Suddenly Italy raise it and Graziano Pelle hits one wide. Running across Boateng to meet De Sciglio's cut-back, it was a really decent chance...

Julian Draxler is a very good runner with the ball. Something a bit different. Mario Gomez was a thorn in Italy's side though, they'll lose that with the change.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 73 mins

    Germany 1-0 Italy

Looking back at that chance just now it seems Chiellini just nipped in before Gomez got his shot away. Would have been an own goal.. No matter. Gomez is off now, replaced by Julian Draxler.

He has looked very bright in this tournament so far. His pace and skill just what the Italian defence need...

Mesut Ozil is running the show now. He's getting on the ball in dangerous areas and now there is no pressure on him. After 70 minutes Italy have burned up.

There really is no way out for Italy right now, every time they try to edge ford Germany win it back. Ozil's operating in a new dimension.

Twenty minutes to go and Italy are hanging on.

Richard Cumiskey: I can't see italy coming back now, they haven't created much, like Germany, that could be the only goal

A great ball by Mesut Ozil, Mario Gomez stays onside but what a save from Gianluigi Buffon to flick it over the bar. Outstanding. Germany are going for the kill.

They're smothering Italy when they try to come out with the ball, they're just a yard faster at the moment.

  19. CLOSE!published at 68 mins

    Germany 1-0 Italy

There's no let up. Italy find themselves immediately pegged back again as Germany revert back to the patient dominance they were enjoying before the goal.

Hummels has a Beckenbauer forward, before Ozil flicks a brilliant ball over the top for Mario Gomez. He's about six yards out but Buffon is right on him and denies with a fantastic save.

It comes from a Manuel Neuer clearance. The mistake is Sturaro allowing Hector to run past him and when it falls for Mesut Ozil he can poke it home.
