Manuel Neuer is involved in the build-up. Alessandro Florenzi gets bamboozled by the ball. It's good work by Mario Gomez on the left, a very patient run from deep and Mesut Ozil, usually the provider, comes up with a ruthless finish. It sat up perfectly for him, he wasn't going to miss from there.

Now we've got a game. Manuel Neuer booms the ball up top, with Mario Gomez collecting. He plays a lovely ball into Hector on the inside overlap, who cuts it back across for Mesut Ozil to toe-end home. So simple you wonder why it hadn't come sooner.

    Italy, what have you got?..

Hugo Middle: This two yellow card rule really harsh...yellows in consecutive games would be better. Ramsey, Davies, Di Sciglio missing...

Adam Stubbings: Has the bookings amnesty always come in this late? Seems unfair to miss a semi for two yellows in five games.

RyanSpeaksFootball: If Italy are not careful they could get a man sent off.

A bit of end-to-end, a brilliant goal-line clearance from Alessandro Florenzi to deny Thomas Muller and a bit of niggle. This far more like it but still no sign of that first goal.

    Germany 0-0 Italy

Germany seem to have recovered their poise after that spell just after half-time when Italy had looked the brighter of the two.

Manuel Neuer gets a touch as they build from the back. Hector gets on it and bends a dangerous-looking ball in from deep, perfect for Mario Gomez really but Italy can clear.

Down the other end Parolo stabs one into the ground, bouncing wide, from outside of the box. So much more space out there now.

Hang on, what's this? Another yellow card? Three in the space of as many minutes for Italy as Marco Parolo now goes in the book for a high boot on Mario Gomez.

Are these marginal gains, for Germany?..

Mattia de Sciglio also goes in the book here for a foul on Kimmich, and he will miss the semi-final, if Italy make it. Not a good feeling. Head in the game...

The game's looking stretched now. Italy throw men forward in support of Eder and Pelle but it's snuffed out and Stefano Sturaro goes in the book as Germany look to counter quickly. Professional foul.

It's inspired defending. Alessandro Florenzi somersaults around and somehow steers it away from the goal. It's remarkable how he's got back there. The Italians just love defending. He was like a stunt man there through the air.

What a block. The Thomas Muller Euros goal drought goes on but it's all down to Alessandro Florenzi, who with a masterpiece of Italian defending, steers off the line with a back-heel flick, and stops a certain goal.

    So, so impressive.

This is better from Germany. Finally a bit of one-touch passing. Ozil, Muller, Kroos move it quickly out wide to Hector, but with Italy deep behind the ball, again it's touch going. They're patient, Germany, and eventually Kimmich's cross is cleared for a corner, but it's easy again for Italy to clear.

Tactical, cagey, call it what you want... It needs a moment.

Is this a bit of a change of tack? Germany seem to be sitting much deeper than they were in the first half, and a couple of times they're almost caught out by De Sciglio ghosting in down the left.

Two cut-backs are sent to Eder, but both times the ball gets loose. Is this the Germans looking to coax the Italians out?

Dennis Ethan: Why hasn't Draxler started tonight? The Germany's MOTM in the previous match. Shocking decision from Low tbh

Khurshid Patel: People say it's a boring game but tactical point of view it has been outstanding so far. Conte and Low spot on tacticians.
