Aaron Ramsey and Pepe are agitated on the touchline, like grounded schoolchildren itching to get out of the house to play football in the park with their friends.

Wales midfielder Ramsey is suspended, while a thigh muscle injury has ruled out Portugal centre-back Pepe.

Both have enjoyed excellent tournaments so far. It will be interesting to see which team misses their absent players most.

Andy King and James Collins are in the squad, but you can't be nervous at this level. Of course there will be a few butterflies but they're here on merit, and I'm sure they'll take the opportunity to do well.

No smiles or stuffed cuddly toys from Wales' players as manager Chris Coleman led them off the team coach here in Lyon. They were wearing the fixed, determined expressions of players who know they can provide one of the greatest sporting stories in this country's history.

Wales are now out warming up. Will the Welsh talisman and consumate team player Gareth Bale help the conquer the more individual brilliance of Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo, his team-mate at Real Madrid?

Really it was incredible, the touch Robson-Kanu had behind him, it took three players out, they went for a crepe-Suzette didn't they? Out of the ground and back in. It was a Cruyff turn that was out of this world.

And that goal proves he's made the right decision in choosing Wales because at the end of the tournament he'll get a new club out of it.

Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo may be prolific team-mates for Real Madrid but tonight they will become enemies for 90 minutes - or maybe more.

The two come head to head with Bale's Wales facing the biggest game in their history, and Ronaldo, at the age of 31, running out of time to win an international trophy with Portugal. How do the two compare - and who has been more effective at Euro 2016?

Tonight is another historic night for Wales, as they prepare to play in a semi-final of a major tournament for the first time ever.

Portugal are the opponents tonight, and it is the battle between Gareth Bale and his Real Madrid team-mate which has been attracting much attention over the last few days. However, Bale has insisted this is not a competition between two players, but a contest between two nations. It has already been an unforgettable campaign for Wales, and victory tonight would crown it all.

Mae heno’n noson hanesyddol arall i Gymru, wrth iddyn nhw baratoi i chwarae yn y rownd gyn-derfynol o gystadleuaeth rhyngwladol am y tro cyntaf erioed.

Portiwgal yw’r gwrthwynebwyr heno, a’r ornest rhwng Gareth Bale a’i gyd-chwaraewr i Real Madrid Cristiano Ronaldo sydd wedi bod yn magu sylw dros y dyddiau diwethaf.

Er hynny, mae Bale wedi bod yn mynnu mai nid cystadleuaeth rhwng dau o chwaraewyr yw hi heno, ond gem rhwng dwy genedl.

Mae wedi bod yn ymgyrch fythgofiadwy i Gymru yn barod, a byddai buddugoliaeth heno yn coroni’r cwbl.

    Portugal v Wales (20:00 BST)

    Dean Saunders
Former Wales striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Andy King is a goalscoring midfield player, he ghosts into the box and every season he gets goals. Aaron Ramsey, who is suspended, is more of a silky, classy, put-you-in type of player - he's got that killer pass.

But King is unlucky not to be playing anyway, it's nice to be able to put somebody like him in the team.

  18. 'Coleman's gone from strength to strength'published at 19:25 British Summer Time 6 July 2016

    Portugal v Wales (20:00 BST)

    John Hartson
Ex-Wales striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Nobody would give Chris Coleman a job in England a few years ago, and he had to go to Greece for work. He experienced a different style, and when the Wales job came up he reflected long and hard on it, thinking about Gary Speed, God rest his soul.

After a couple of really heavy defeats a lot of Wales fans wanted Coleman out. But he got through it. All of a sudden they started to pick up some results and since then he's gone from strength to strength.
