    Wasn't that a Pogues B-side?

Chris Gunter is missing his brother's wedding, somobody missed a Beyonce gig, but Gareth Bale was so confident of Wales’ chances that he booked his holiday on the day after the final. You could say he was a professional.

"I fully believed that we could do something. That is why I booked my holiday for the 11th (the day after the final). I am not like the others," he said. "I fully believed that we could do something. You see the fairytale of Greece and Denmark and stuff, and you think: 'Why can't we do it?'"

Remarkably, Portugal have reached the last four without winning a game in normal time following three draws in a group in which they finished third and an extra-time win over Croatia in the last 16 and a shootout win over Poland.

No side has ever got this far in a European Championship without winning a match inside 90 minutes.

Portugal have also only led a match for 22 minutes during the whole tournament.

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale hugs his team-mate Pepe and asks if he's playing tonight.

    I think the defender nodded.

Both sets of players are out for the customary pre warm-up perambulation.

The Wales team bus has arrived, Chris Coleman striding out for his date with destiny. The support staff form a kind of guard of honour to greet those on the bus, hand slaps, claps and shakes all round.

We should have confirmed team news shortly.

The father of the late Wales manager Gary Speed has said today is "emotional" for his family.

Roger Speed was greeted in Lyon by Wales fans chanting his name ahead of the Euro 2016 semi-final with Portugal.

Mr Speed said: "I'm very very proud, I know all the lads and they think about him [Gary Speed] all the time - let's do it for Speedo!"

Former Leeds United, Everton and Newcastle United midfielder Speed was found hanged in the garage of his home in Huntington, Chester, in November 2011.

His father told Good Morning Wales: "It's a very emotional day. He's done a great job, Chris [Coleman], I wished him all the best - he's done a great job to get them where they are."

Wales will be forced into two changes this evening as midfielder Aaron Ramsey and defender Ben Davies are suspended.

According to sources close to the squad, Leicester’s Premier League winner Andy King will replace Ramsey and West Ham centre-back James Collins will come in for Davies.

Davies’ distribution will be missed but, after a strong season for his club, Collins will be relishing his first start for Wales since the 3-0 win away against Israel in March 2015.

The Portugal team bus has arrived in Lyon - the traffic management on the E15 looks to be absolutely first rate. A lovely summer's evening, not a traffic jam or congested car park in sight.

Pepe is one of the first men off the coach - he is an injury doubt but gives little away, managing to vault the last step easily enough.

  18. TP seeking inspirationpublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 6 July 2016

    Portugal v Wales (20:00 BST)

West Brom manager Tony Pulis thinks Wales' success at the European Championship can inspire a generation.

The 58-year old Welshman was born the year Wales last reached a major championships, when they reached the quarter-finals of the 1958 World Cup.

However, Pulis believes the current crop, who have reached the Euro 2016 semi-finals, will motivate a whole new generation of Welsh football fans.

"This team can inspire people to get outside and on to the pitch," he said.

"This group of players have surpassed the achievement of that side from 1958," he said.

"I am from Newport, it is a tough area, there are a lot of working class people there.

"And the thing I hope and pray is that the next time I go into a city in Wales, instead of seeing kids sitting playing on their computers or their phones or whatever, you will see that they now have a new set of heroes - sportspeople - because of this team."
