  2. 'For my fatherland, my flag'published at 22:53 British Summer Time 6 July 2016

    Portugal 2-0 Wales

Portugal manager Fernando Santos: "The final on Sunday will be the highest point in my career so far. Professionally speaking it's like any other moment... but it's my flag, my fatherland, my family, my friends, from a personal point of view it's hugely important.

"Two teams face off tomorrow, I'll try to analyse our opponent, like I said, we're in it to win it."

  3. 'Don't care if it's pretty or not'published at 22:52 British Summer Time 6 July 2016

    Portugal 2-0 Wales

Portugal manager Fernando Santos: "Portugal always have a game-plan, an attacking and a defending game-plan. We know we're not the best team in the world, that's our starting point, but we also know it's not easy to beat us. We try to study our opponents to avoid surprises, and ever opponent is different. Today, the game-plan worked.

"I have always said sometimes we have played pretty football, other times not, but our game against Croatia was amazing, a very strategic game. We've been doing what we should do - according to me - and we don't care if it's pretty or not. Today was a prettier game though and that's good for all those watching."

  4. 'Coleman is a great coach'published at 22:46 British Summer Time 6 July 2016

    Portugal 2-0 Wales

Portugal manager Fernando Santos: "I expected the game to be different and it was, but there had to be a time when our quality came through. Otherwise it is always the opponents who play poorly.

"Chris Coleman is a great coach, his team was very well organised, they made it very difficult for us. They had a great run. Two years ago we set a goal for ourselves, myself and the players, that we'd be here two years later. With a lot of unity, cooperation and effort we've reached that goal.

"Now we have a final to play."

Chris Coleman has conducted himself superbly well there. A very gallant news conference. Full of praise for Portugal and his own team.

Where next for Wales? Where next for Chris Coleman?

  7. 'They've all been fantastic'published at 22:42 British Summer Time 6 July 2016

    Portugal 2-0 Wales

Wales manager Chris Coleman: "I can't say I'm disappointed with any of my players. They've all been fantastic. The first goal in a game like this, the team that scores it gets a huge boost in confidence, and for us to concede again so quickly afterwards, it's a huge disappointment.

"I said at half-time, Portugal have paid us a huge compliment by setting up in the way they did, to deny us space, but you have to congratulate them. They had a plan and it worked. They played as a team and once they'd got the two goals it was too difficult for us. We couldn't do it tonight."

  8. 'Immensely proud'published at 22:39 British Summer Time 6 July 2016

    Portugal 2-0 Wales

Wales manager Chris Coleman: "I'm immensely proud of the players. It's incredible, what they've done, and how they've performed. To get here is amazing but the nature of how they've achieved that too, the only game we didn't show what we are was against England. You can only ask someone to give their best. You win or you lose.

"If you lose and you've given your best, that's how it goes. But I've told the players this isn't the end. Some of them will be here a lot longer than I will be here as manager. We've come through some big tests, it's been a great experience. Now we have to go into the next campaign with the same hunger and desire as we've had over the also three years.

"I'm prouder of this team than any other team I've been involved in."

  9. 'Healthy, positive vibe'published at 22:37 British Summer Time 6 July 2016

    Portugal 2-0 Wales

Wales manager Chris Coleman: "It was important for us to get over thepsychological barrier and qualify for the first tournament. There's nothing like this. It's such a healthy positive vibe, we absolutely loved every minute. We need some more of that. So now, what are we going to do? The only one thing that can stop us will be ourselves, because we're good enough."

  11. 'We pushed them all the way'published at 22:36 British Summer Time 6 July 2016

    Portugal 2-0 Wales

More from Chris Coleman: "This is Portugal's seventh semi-final, they've been here before, this is our first tournament, we pushed them all the way.

"There's loads of positives to take back and we have to make sure this is not the end of a journey, our players have got more, more success in them, we just have to make sure we go and get it."

  12. 'First goal was crucial'published at 22:35 British Summer Time 6 July 2016

    Portugal 2-0 Wales

Wales manager Chris Coleman: "The first goal was going to be crucial. The first half, it was a tight match, not much in it. We never really got into our rhythm with the ball, but we have to give credit to Portugal. But we lost our concentration for five minutes and when you're up against quality in a semi-final, you're going to get punished. We've done plenty of winning, it was our turn tonight to lose. It's not a nice feeling, but congratulations to them. I hope they go and win it."

  15. 'I'm proud of the nation'published at 22:30 British Summer Time 6 July 2016

PORTUGAL BEAT WALES TO REACH THE FINAL

Wales manager Chris Coleman: "I'm proud of the players, the staff, the whole nation. The supporters have been brilliant every time. I know it's cost them a lot of money and I hope we've repaid that with some happy memories. We've seen the scenes back home, it's been incredible.

"It still hurts, the fact that we've lost the semi-final, players are gutted but that will subside. When they look back they need to understand they have done their country proud.

"Once you give what you have got, it's always enough, even if you don't get the result."

  18. 'Thanks to the Greeks...'published at 22:23 British Summer Time 6 July 2016

    Portugal 2-0 Wales

Portugal manager Fernando Santos: "I feel very happy. Happy for the players, for every single Portuguese. For the many Greeks who supported me throughout, especially in the knockout stages.

"My first game at the helm of the team was two years ago, and our goal was to reach here. Thankfully everything worked out for us. We are stronger, more solid, more united."

Who would you rather play in the final? France or Germany? "The first final I had in my career somebody said to me: 'Finals are not about playing, they're about winning.'"

Ex-Wales striker on BBC Radio 5 live

I've been to every single Wales game here, they've done us all so proud. We were all so emotional against Russia and Belgium. They had the final in touching distance but just fell short. There were one or two efforts from range but we didn't look like the team that beat Belgium, that passed the ball so confidently then.

I hope this is just the start for Wales. The legacy now has to be the kids back home at school going on to develop, the Welsh clubs producing players of their own, homegrown talent. I hope this leads to more players emerging who can take us to the European Championship, to the World Cup.
