Wales were gutsy minnows when they qualified for Euro 2016, they were plucky outsiders as they topped their group, they had progressed to having 'a puncher's chance' in the knockout stages and now face Portugal as equals.

    Maybe even favourites?

The bookies have Portugal as strong favourites, with Wales available at 3/1 to win in 90 minutes.

    What say you?

    Never mind Ronaldo v Bale.

It's the nearly men v the never men in Lyon tonight.

A stadium which holds just under 60,000 will be the focal point for 3m people in Wales, another 10m in Portugal and countless others across Europe and beyond.

It is 20 years since a team from the UK - England - reached the semi-finals of a major tournament. In a horrible strip.

The biggest game of international football in Britain for 20 years?

    Certainly.

The biggest story in international football in Britain in 50 years?

    Quite possibly.

Wales are potentially 90 minutes away from the final of Euro 2016. A team which was ranked 112th just six years ago - a slot currently filled by Kazakhstan - are closing in on sporting immortality.

This man has looked well short of his best so far. Can he turn it on tonight?

Tonight Wales face Portugal. A team who have drawn every match in the Euros so far, but who have serious tournament pedigree.

Who have arguably the continent's best player. Certainly its biggest name.

If you've made the mistake of making plans for this evening, may we suggest that you politely cancel them.

This is the only place to be.

It's Portugal v Wales. For a place in the final of Euro 2016...
