And on that note, I will bow out and leave you in the hands of my colleague Neil Johnston.

Neil is going to guide you through the huge Welsh occasion which everyone seems to be talking about.

For now though, farewell. Well done Switzerland, your chocolate is good and your team is excelling.

Worryingly for Wales, who kick off in 53 minutes on what is their European Championships debut, the last four teams making their EURO finals debut have all lost (Latvia 2004, Poland and Austria 2008 and Albania 2016).

    Time to buck the trend...

So it's a great start in Group A for the two sides we probably expect to progress. It's safe to say what we have seen from the others though is encouraging and there looks likely to be a twist or two in store before the knockout stages.

"I said before that France wouldn't have easy games in this group and we have seen that. I was more impressed by Albania than Switzerland but the latter won."

Slowbear: Ironic that neither of these teams playing in Lens have an eye for goal!

Alex Lonsdale: Albania are extremely unlucky not to snatch a draw played brilliantly with 10 men Switzerland very lucky to take all 3 points.

  6. The big miss...published at 16:00 British Summer Time 11 June 2016

Shkelzen Gashi would have run a chance like this through his mind time and again as he grew up dreaming of scoring a critical goal for Albania.

Three minutes on the clock, the moment was his... nearly.

If you are just joining us, Switzerland have beaten 10-man Albania 1-0 courtesy of Fabian Schar's early header.

Albania appear to be no push overs, with a front man in Armando Sadiku who is willing to run all day and they really threatened to overcome their one-man disadvantage.

I'll bring you video of their best chance of the match next but to watch any highlights, just click the tab at the top of this page.

"Three points definitely in Swiss bank. Albania keeper Etrit Berisha was outstanding for the most part but made one crucial error which led to the goal.

Albania have nothing to be ashamed of but the Swiss had a lot of possession but they didn't make it pay and didn't adapt well enough to playing against 10 men."

The telling goal arrived on five minutes but that doesn't tell the whole story by any means.

Albania's 10 men battled hard to stay in the contest and boy oh boy did they have chances to get something. Switzerland win only their second game at a European Championships but there will be questions as to why they couldn't do a little more.

Still, a win is a win, job done. Albania, you have won a few fans today though, great spirit.

Mergim Mavraj is rightly booked for that brutal block but more importantly, his side are running out of time. We go into the final minute.

Valon Behrami is on hand to block a cross as the red shirts of Albania steam forward.

Mergim Mavraj absolutely flattens Breel Embolo as the Swiss look to break. He had to take him out as Embolo was away.

Still the Albanians sing. They will see their men pump another cross in... it's poor from Ergys Kace, straight into the hands of Yann Sommer.

We will have three added minutes.

  17. GREAT SAVE!published at 87 mins

    Albania 0-1 Switzerland

What a chance... what a chance for Albania.

They probably deserve a point here after a gutsy display and Shkelzen Gashi beats the offside trap to be well clear. Arms are in the air wanting a flag which isn't coming and he has to score, 14 yards out, he just has to score.

Yann Sommer comes out to narrow the angle and makes a telling save, flicking the ball over the bar. Gashi looks distraught, he knows that was the moment.

I've been impressed with Yann Sommer in the Switzerland goal. Again he's out quickly to gobble up a cross some 10 yards from his goal. Good handling.

Why oh why are Switzerland hanging on a little though? They've faced 10 men for an age and should have put this to bed.
