Thankfully it's a shirt and not smalls he's shared with us. It's a warm one in Marseille it seems.

Now this live text has featured four babies in around 50 minutes, a record.

Young Eric is too old to make it number five but if ever anyone deserved a place in the live text then it's him for this effort.

Young Eric is doing what Mr Dier can only dream of.

  3. I'd go for Stones over Cahillpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 11 June 2016

    Rio Ferdinand
    Former England defender

"I wouldn’t be too worried about the full-backs. It would be the centre-back area where there is a bit of uncertainty.

"Chris Smalling’s cemented his place as the number one choice and it’s about who is going to play with him. Gary Cahill, if you are going to go for experience then he is that guy but, me personally, I would go with John Stones.

"I’m looking at England for the future rather than for the now. Centre-back is the weakest part of our team because there is a form partnership.

"I like the way Stones plays – the footballing side of his game."

England manager Roy Hodgson was planning to tell his players this morning about who would be starting against Russia tonight and he's "happy" with his team.

"It is not something that has suddenly been sprung upon us over the last few days, it is something which has been emerging certainly over the last six months," said Hodgson.

"It hasn't emerged over the last four years or even over two years but certainly over the last six months the team that I'll pick and the team I might pick in future games, they've been emerging and I feel very comfortable now I know what those players can do on the field and what they can do together."

A note on Gareth Bale. His significance to the Wales team has of course been played up in the build-up to today...

Bale scored or assisted nine of Wales’ 11 goals (82%), the highest ratio in the EURO qualifying campaign among teams to have made it the 2016 finals.

    So what's the fuss about?

Right, I'm on for a record number of babies in a live text here. This takes our tally to four in 40 minutes.

The reason for this image is that Granit Xhaka and his brother Taulant could face one another when Albania take on Switzerland. They'd be the first brothers on opposing sides at any Euros.

We have more detail on this to come but for now, someone send me a fifth baby...

    England v Russia (20:00 BST)

Roy Hodgson is of course about to start his third major tournament as England manager but despite all his experience, he still has fears that fear itself may grip his players.

"My fear as a coach would be that the players take anxiety on to the field, that they're weighed down when they go out and play and don't play as well as they like, imagining the headlines," he said.

"We try to encourage them to believe in themselves, go out and play the football we've been trying to play, and we'll see what it brings.

"We hope it brings some good moments and the people back home like what they see."

    Rio Ferdinand
    Former England defender

"The difference between club and tournament football is you are incubated for a real intense amount of time – a five, six week period including the warm up.

"It’s dealing with that – you get cabin fever a little bit. You want to get out and do things and live your life normally but you can’t because you are in a tournament.

"It’s being able to deal with that mentally, physically, your preparation for games and training, your recovery from training and games – these are things that the young players are really going to have to get their heads round quickly."

    So where do you stand?

Are you someone who wants experience in your camp or the freedom youth brings?

Roy Hodgson has opted for the latter.

Wayne Rooney aside, no England player has scored 10 international goals.

So will the youngsters freeze when the pressure cranks up? It will of course. Whether it be scrapping to get out of a group, a penalty shootout, extra time, that thing called pressure... it's coming.

The Republic of Ireland assistant manager said Martin O'Neill has a full squad to choose from, with Robbie Keane and Robbie Brady fit, while Jon Walters did a "decent" session today.

Keane adds: "Robbie (Keane) will have a massive role to play.. If he's in the starting 11 or used a sub, he'll make an impact.

"Don't doubt what this group of players will bring to the party. The other teams are in for a tough game against us."

While Dimitri Payet rightly grabs the headlines, N'Golo Kante of Leicester City also played a corker of a match for France.

His Foxes team-mate Christian Fuchs has been on social media already today and thinks Kante will burn some of his endless energy by running south in time for the hosts' next game in Marseille.

Just in case you were wondering, yes this live text will be England/Wales heavy until shortly before kick-off in Lens, where Switzerland take on Albania.

Did you know, over 700,000 bunkers in Albania were constructed during the nearly forty-year rule of Enver Hoxha? The process was known as "bunkerisation" but they were never really needed for military use. Still, they were probably at least handy for kicking a football against.

I'm going to put it out there early and confess that you have a Welshman writing this live text. Don't worry, my feelings will be kept aside as I'm running things through until 16:00 BST, so there'll be no bias at all when Wales get going.

For the record, I have no links to Switzerland or Albania. Though I do like Swiss chocolate.

When Wales last played in a major tournament, parking meters had just been introduced in the UK.

What else is 1958 famed for aside from Wales' World Cup quarter-final defeat to Brazil?

Jools Holland and Lenny Henry were born, Cardiff hosted the Commonwealth Games, the Munich air disaster took place and work began on the M1 - which eventually became Britain's first completed motorway.
