Chris is right. The best two chances have fallen to Ireland and if anything is to be learned from England's game against Russia, you need to take them while on top. Especially if you're facing Italy and Belgium in your next two games.

I think it did come to John O'Shea. He was falling back. It is a chance and he completely missed it.

Robbie Brady delivers it, and Sweden clear for a corner and it is so close to an opener. Ciaran Clark heads it on and John O'Shea misses it at the back post. Should have scored. Nothing more, nothing less.

A few shouts of handball as Zlatan Ibrahimovich controls it with his arms down near his knees. Referee says nothing doing but Jon Walters now wins a free-kick about 35 yards out in a central position.

Two huge technical areas here at the Stade de France but neither manager has ventured the 10 metres or so from dugout to pitch so far.

If they did they might be in danger of getting mowed down by Norwich's Martin Olsson, who has been very busy up and down the left flank so far.

Plenty of evidence of early niggles, with neither side afraid to let the others know they're about.

That was a good strike. It wasn't easy to keep the ball down. It skids off the surface and was a good save.

Wes Hoolahan chases a long punt forward and wins a throw deep in the Swedish half. It's thrown into Jeff Hendrick who hammers a shot into the ground and draws a decent save by Andreas Isaksson. The corner is then wasted. Tasty effort though.

Martin Olsson is seeing plenty of the ball early on and he's away down the left again. This time his cross is poor and straight into the arms of Irish keeper Darren Randolph. 

Sweden making more inroads down the left as this time Martin Olsson has a go. His cross is delivered into the box towards Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but it's a bit too high and the Irish defenders are around him like bees round honey.

I think Ireland are going for a diamond with Wes Hoolahan at the point, Sweden will be a very rigid 4-4-2.

I think Ireland will leave nothing on this pitch. They lack a bit of quality but they will work so, so hard to stop Sweden playing.

Shane Long wins a free-kick down the left but it's headed clear by Sweden. Roy Keane looks unhappy with the delivery. Calm down Roy it's only early days.
