After admitting he would like to kill some of his players after their recent friendly defeat by Belarus, how much would Roy Keane like to be involved in this group?

An opportunity to square up to Zlatan, take on a team without Andrea Pirlo and berate Eden Hazard for going over a bit too easily?

Unfortunately, assistant boss Roy will just have to be Keane from the bench.

Cheers Luke, well that was a very hard-fought win for Spain. No lack of drama in the Euros, so far. Can anyone think of a couple of characters to get this next game bubbling along?

    Spain 1-0 Czech Republic

Despite the worrying Petr Cech stat and Spain's 72% possession, if you're just joining us it took a superb Cesc Fabregas clearance on the goal line to keep the score at 0-0 in the second half.

Czech Republic are not finished yet, but they will have to upset Croatia next time out to keep any last-16 hopes alive you'd think.

I do love a good stat more than the next man but this one has pleased me no end. It's gold.

Petr Cech made more passes in this game than any other Czech Republic player (36).

He was excellent and 11 Petr Cechs would be dead handy for Czech Republic.

    Spain 1-0 Czech Republic

Spain have netted 10 goals in the last five minutes in normal time of European Championship finals games, more than any other side.

Whether their passing be your cup of tea or not, they carded 18 shots against an international-level side, so they are evidently still pretty good at what they choose to do.

Spain played 696 passes today, completing 89%.

Moon Quddus-Rose: I miss the EC2008 Spain. Not as good as WC2010 Spain at killing off games, but they so incredible up-front and fun to watch!

Johnny Magrinho: There's no way Cech isn't Man of the Match. As good as Iniesta may have been, Cech was phenomenal in between the sticks.

Lee Ross: Genuinely feel Spain would be better off with Pique or Ramos upfront all the time. Too much faffing around.

That's an interesting take Lee. I like the idea.

If you are just tuning in, this was the moment Spain edged ahead. It was a long time coming.

What a ball from Andres Iniesta.

I was very impressed with the Croatia team yesterday, they had pace and power.

This Spain team are lovely to watch but at times a bit dull and boring, even the fans were just sitting there expecting them to get a goal.

Rarely do we see emotion on the face of Vicente del Bosque. He barely gave us a flicker when he delivered the World Cup for the first time in Spain's history. So perhaps it's telling he punched the air when that winner went in. Relief.

Spain just don't quite strike the same fear into the opposition's heart. They have lost key players like Xavi and as a result of what happened at the World Cup.

They keep trying the same thing and normally it works out but other teams might just think they can keep them out.

    Spain 1-0 Czech Republic

Spain deserved the win but the clearance from Fabregas at 0-0, that allowed Spain to get the winning goal.

Pique stayed up and he has got the winning goal.

Spain were not that impressive, they lacked pace in the side, but a win is a win.

    Spain 1-0 Czech Republic

Another very honest and eventful Euro 2016 offering ends and Spain can breathe a sigh of relief.

At the very start of this live text I said we will see what kind of champions Spain are, could they respond from a humiliating World Cup showing to defend their European title?

Well champions are formed in many different ways and going right until the death is just one of the necessary elements. Boy did they do that today. A hard-earned win, dominant, classy and ultimately effective.

There will still be questions though. Are they clinical enough?

    What an opportunity there.

It was straight at De Gea but that is why he is number one for Spain.

    Top drawer save.

  19. CLOSE!published at 90+ 2 mins

    Spain 1-0 Czech Republic

A big chance for the Czech Republic as they build an attack down the left and Vladimir Darida is waiting for the pull back. His touch sees the ball bounce up and his volley is stinging, well punched away from David de Gea.

What an opening just 10 yards out. For all their defensive work, the Czechs have gone close twice today, very close in fact.

It just goes to show how important the clearance from Fabregas was under his own crossbar.
