There are roars and songs in the stadium now, the tense feeling evaporates as the men in red have finally done it. Tomas Rosicky has vacated, he played four times as much football in this game than he did all season for Arsenal.

They just couldn't see it out.

Pique stayed up. Juanfran does so well and it gets switched out to this side.

Pique was in-between defenders and great delivery from Iniesta, all Pique has to do is glance it.

I told you Spain would score!

Spain 1-0 Czech Republic - Gerard Pique

At last. They have huffed, puffed, knocked at the door politely, brought gifts to try to get in but eventually it takes a big bad central defender wolf to blow the house down.

Andres Iniesta has the ball on the left of the area after a corner kick and Gerard Pique has stayed up. The ball is sumptuous to the back post, curling towards goal it just needs a touch and there is Pique, nodding it low into the corner.

What a moment for Spain, they deserve it and why win a game 10-0 when you can win by one eh?

We have six minutes to go, still there are 11 Czech shirts behind the ball. Some of them must be shattered mentally and physically now. Spain attack an end of the ground packed with red shirts. Juanfran will reach the dead ball line to loop a ball to the back stick, Tomas Rosicky clears for a corner.

Rosicky got that all wrong and sliced his effort closer to the goal than he'd have liked.

Gaz F: I'm not sure but I think the Czechs are playing a flat-back 6.

I think you're right Gaz. This is the very definition of backs to the wall.

    Spain 0-0 Czech Republic

If a tackle is ever as important as a goal it's this one. Andres Iniesta attacks from the right and wants to shoot but instead the ball is worked centrally and Thiago is slipped into the area with the goal at his mercy, from nowhere comes Ladislav Krejci to brilliantly slide his body around his man and hook the ball clear. That was the goal for sure, Thiago even had men alongside him to square to.

Petr Cech comes for a corner to palm a ball clear. In it will come again from Sergio Ramos and Aritz Aduriz can leap... he heads just wide. I can't help but think he's a good foil for this intricate Spain side. A no nonsense type who just wants service and chances.

What a spectacular winner that would have been!

Aduriz was so high off the ground, acrobatic but wide.

Aritz Aduriz would do well to announce himself with an overhead kick to win this match. He has a go, meeting a cross from the right but his effort from 12 yards is wide.

Tomas Necid is coming off. Talk about a lonely role up front for Czech Republic. David Lafata is coming on. He's about half the size of the man he replaces.

As you can see, the pattern continues.

If you're just joining us, Spain are trying everything but the Czech Republic are one durable and dogged unit.

Still they come forward, I'll bring you some stats next as this is one-way stuff. Nolito on it, the ball into the box is gathered by Andres Iniesta and David Silva is set some 20 yards out. He fakes to shoot, opens space and has a go left footed, wide. A good opening for one so gifted.

It was a bad first touch from Alba, it hit him on the knee.

Jordi Alba must score, he's flicked in behind by another David Silva pass and has just 10 yards between him and the opening goal. His touch is heavy and there's Roman Hubnik on hand, not for the first time, to poke the ball for a corner.
