Vedran Corluka falls to the groundImage source, Getty Images

Vedran Corluka is down, rubbing his eyes. Vision problems? He's also dispensed with his swimming cap. Sad times.

As he receives treatment, Croatia make a change with Marko Rog off and Mateo Kovacic on in his place.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 80 mins

    Czech Republic 0-2 Turkey

A win puts the Czechs through but they don't look like staging a miracle from here. Although as I say that Vladimir Darida hits a deflected effort from 22 yards which Volkan Babacan does well to push out...

    Croatia 1-1 Spain

I would genuinely rather go back to school and learn about Pythagoras' theorem all over again than try and get my head around the third-place permutations. Head scratching stuff.

Fortunately it is simple stuff for this engrossing encounter. As things stand, Spain are going through as group winners, Croatia second.

A reminder that the Czechs were 2-0 down against Croatia and came back, and it has been the tournament of the late goal. I've never been so confused about a group's permutations...

Sam Hodge: Subasic four yards off his line when Ramos hits the ball. Fifth official just stands there like a lemon. Stealing a living.

Paul Eaton: Not a great pen, but confirms the officials behind the goal are completely pointless!!

James Liggins: How far was the keeper coming off his line there? Good save nonetheless.

  6. 'Have Spain not got a striker to take penalties?'published at 21:31 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

    Croatia 1-1 Spain

    John Hartson
Ex-Wales striker on BBC Radio 5 live

David Silva has just fallen over! Croatia very, very unlucky to concede the penalty. There is minimum contact but for me he goes over far too easy. I think it's a brush.

It's not a good penalty from Sergio Ramos, a really good height for Danijel Subasic - he's about six or seven feet off his line, I don't know what the ruling is there?

But you have to give credit to the goalkeeper because he's read it.

I didn't fancy Ramos, I never fancy central defenders taking penalties. Have you not got a striker in Spanish football that can take a penalty to win the game for you?

There were a few flares let off in the Turkey end after that second goal by the way. Some made their way onto the pitch too.

    Disappointing.

    Croatia 1-1 Spain

Hmm, on first look it was indeed a great save but then watching the replay, Danijel Subasic had come way off his line before the penalty was taken. Surprised the referee did not spot that.

    Anyway, it's as you were.

    Tight game.

...Sergio Ramos, naturally, takes the penalty...GREAT SAVE by Danijel Subasic.

Turkey would still need Portugal to lose, and all of Sweden, Republic of Ireland and Austria not to win, to go through.

    But it could happen...

Sime Vrsaljko is bookedImage source, Reuters

And as I type that, Spain win a penalty as David Silva is brought down in the box by Sime Vrsaljko, who is booked. Looks a bit soft, Croatia will feel hard done by.

Chance for Spain to regain their lead...

    Croatia 1-1 Spain

Croatia looked great against the Czech Republic, until things fell apart after Luka Modric went off and crowd trouble disrupted their momentum.

Once again, they look a real force tonight.

    Tournament dark horses?

Johnny Magrinho: Croatia taking the fight to Spain is like a terrier against a Rottweiler, but as they say, every dog has its day.

John Fernandes: My 2-1 prediction in favor of #Croatia, external, doesn't look that silly anymore.

Desmond Oguda: This Croatia side are no pushovers. Really taking the ball to Spain. Great game here!

  15. 'Not a penalty for me'published at 21:25 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

    Croatia 1-1 Spain

    John Hartson
Ex-Wales striker on BBC Radio 5 live

I've just looked at the Marko Pjaca penalty incident and it's not a penalty for me. He's looking for it.

It's a good decision by the referee.

  16. CLOSE!published at 67 mins

    Croatia 1-1 Spain

So close for Spain as Sergio Ramos rises to meet a corner and nods just wide. Free header. Should have done better.

Meanwhile, Aritz Aduriz is on for Alvaro Morata.

Croatia penalty? Marko Pjaca tries to dance his way through three Spain players, he tumbles with legs flying around everywhere.

Referee waves it away. Replays suggest to me he made the right call.

That's a great finish! The Turkey free-kick is headed on, laid back to Ozan Tufan about eight yards out, a tight angle, and he just laces it. Right through the ball, he beats Petr Cech for pure power. It's past the Arsenal keeper before he can react. Great hit! And now Turkey do have a real chance of qualifying.

The good news for those of us who are confused is that it looks like there will be a goal either way in a frantic last half hour! Turkey almost spring a shaky looking offside trap but the ref pulls it back for a foul...
