Waste! Czech Republic counter, three on three but Tomas Necid chooses to shoot from a good 20 yards, hard and low but an easy save for Volkan Babacan. He had time. He had space.

Croatia look really good on the break when they have been able to counter. They have soaked up a lot of pressure, but when they get forward they are dangerous.

Darijo Srna down this right hand side impresses me every time I see him.

We've spoken about Spain and their technical quality, but Croatia's technical quality is also excellent and they are very strong runners.

There's some strong reports suggesting Manchester City have activated Nolito's release clause, external at Celta Vigo.

If true, he can go finalise the details of any potential move now as his night is done.

The forward is replaced by Bruno Soriano.

He's a real talent. Graceful and purposeful on the ball as Turkey counter attack with Emre Mor once again. They are camped in in defence but one punt is all it needs to send Mor away. He beats one man, cuts inside another but then crucially should release the ball. He shoots. Over.

    Croatia 1-1 Spain

At 25 minutes in this game I was thinking no way can this Spain team be beaten at this tournament.

On 58 minutes, I'm not so sure. Their defence has looked very suspect tonight and is almost punished when Darijo Srna's cross is uncharacteristically flapped at by David de Gea. The Manchester United keeper manages to block Tin Jedvaj's shot from the loose ball, before Marko Pjaca acrobatically volleys just wide.

    Spain get away with it.

  6. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 57 mins

    Czech Republic 0-1 Turkey

Gokhan Gonul has had some heavy work on his cut head and is back in the Turkish defence. The Czechs send on Milan Skoda, who scored last time out.

Heart in mouth moment for Sergio Ramos. Marko Pjaca goes down under a nudge from the defender, who is on a yellow from a previous game and another means he will  miss Spain's last 16 match. Fortunately, referee Bjorn Kuipers keeps his card in his pocket.

  8. 'Croatia frustrating Spain'published at 21:11 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

    Croatia 1-1 Spain

They are frustrating Spain, Croatia. Whenever Spain are trying to get through Croatia are getting nine players behind the ball.

Spain will remain patient, as they always do, and they will look for that little probing ball.

Pass, pass, pass. Spain are knocking it about beautifully, but know where to turn up the tempo and they do just that when David Silva spots a gap in the Croatia defence to feed Jordi Alba on the left. He sends the ball low to the near post, but Alvaro Morata stabs over.

  10. Turkey out?published at 54 mins

    Czech Republic 0-1 Turkey

Uefa say that Turkey need a second goal to have any chance but we think that if it stays like this, and every remaining result went their way, they would be through.

But Uefa don't get this sort of thing wrong. And I often do. So I don't know who to believe.

Ooof, a nasty clash of heads, a triple-whammy actually as Tomas Sivok runs straight into the head of Gokhan Gonul, with an added side of a Czech team-mate too. Blood everywhere. Gokhan down and out.

  12. 'Croatia encouraged'published at 21:06 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

Croatia got a little bit of encouragement towards the end of the first-half, especially with the goal.

It was a chance for Spain's Juanfran though, again if you're going to be critical you could say he should be hitting the target from 18 yards out.

Did Spain get a bit complacent towards the end of the first half? If they did, they've clearly been sent out with Vicente del Bosque's strong words ringing in their ears as they start this half strongly.

David Silva finds himself in space on the edge of the area, he squares it for Nolito but overhits it and the ball runs through to Juanfran, who blasts over.

The Czech Republic have had a stinker of a tournament so far, that fightback from two goals down to take a point against Croatia is all looking a bit pointless at the moment.

A testing 15 minutes for coach Pavel Vrba coming up...

  18. 'A lesson for Spain'published at 20:58 British Summer Time 21 June 2016

    Croatia 1-1 Spain

    Guillem Balague
Spanish football journalist on BBC Radio 5 live

It’s deserved. Spain had a fantastic first 25 minutes, but after a while they relaxed and everybody dropped very deep. The build-up was very slow and there was no possibility of passes on the edge of the box.

A lesson for Spain, if you play a team that may not look great at that point but have the quality to hurt you then they may do that.

That goal for Croatia ends Spain's record-breaking run without conceding at a Euros at 735 minutes.

If Croatia bag another, and Spain fail to score then it will be Spain versus Italy in the last 16 next Monday.

    Tasty.

Michael Ball: That was maybe the best half of football (for a 'neutral') so far this tournament. Gripping.

James Foster: Spain's defence has been poor. Unsure whether it's honest mistakes or just plain arrogance.

Sunny: Game is on now, should be a good second half.
