Brett, Weymouth: Disgusting tactics by the post there. If it's just going to stand and block shots all night it's got no hope of winning the Euros...

For Austria, after the disappointment of an opening defeat by Hungary this is a result to savour. A draw against the group favourites.

But they too need a win to go through, and when they play Iceland in their final game, their fate won't be in their own hands.

The other thing about all this of course is that tonight was Ronaldo's 128th appearance for Portugal - he was setting a new record. Luis Figo got 127 caps.

They'll now need to beat Hungary on Wednesday to go through.

Realistically, a draw won't be enough to send them through as one of the best third-placed teams.

Cristiano Ronaldo has attempted more shots at Euro 2016 than nine other teams.

And still the hunt for a goal goes on...

Ronaldo has missed four of last five for club and country, and the one he missed tonight would pretty much have wrapped the game up, you feel.

There's not a Portugal player still out there, but the Austrians are lapping this up.

Cristiano Ronaldo's walk off the Parc des Princes turf is not a happy one. He pulls his shorts up tight in frustration as the Austria players head to their fans.

And there are lot of them, jubilant up in the stands.

Pepe, lumbering forward with the ball over the halfway. There's still time?

Boomed into the box but Eder can't reach it, out for an Austria throw.

    Surely. Surely?

They're running out of time, Portugal. The threat they've had has just spirited away.

It's Austria who look better now. They break forward, but the move peters out. Rui Patricio back with it...

Portugal told to re-take a free-kick deep in their own half. Austria are all lined up in front of them. Two banks of five.

Austria seemingly still have enough in them to get up the other end and look for sub Hinterseer at the back stick, but a Portugal head can clear.

It's out for a goal kick. But this isn't where Cristiano Ronaldo wants it.

    Three minutes added on.

Portugal now. If that previous sub was the last throw of the dice then what's this?

Another change for Austria. Kevin Wimmer trots on to take up a guard in front of the defence.

    They're nearly there...

What is Cristiano Ronaldo gonna say about this?!

Cristiano Ronaldo leaps brilliantly, a deft header nestles in the far corner and he wheels away in delight, the frustration distilled into joy..

But no! The flag is up, for offside...

Portugal need patience to break down this resilient Austria backline but they don't have much. About five to go.

And in any case, even the post might stop them. Change for Austria, Marcel Sabitzer replaced by Lukas Hinterseer.
