  1. 'Beating likes of Swansea will determine Burnley fate'published at 13:33 British Summer Time 13 August 2016

    Burnley v Swansea (15:00 BST)

    Martin Fisher

As impressive as Burnley were in winning the Championship their squad will need strengthening. Failure to do so during their last top-flight campaign was a mistake.

They are miserly in defence and well organised, and if Andre Gray can again fire the goals which propelled Burnley to the title in May I firmly believe they have more than a fighting chance of staying up.

Beating the likes of Swansea will determine their fate. This is the Welsh club's sixth successive Premier League season and seeing them without captain Ashley Williams will be strange.

Now the focus is on the other end of the pitch and it will be fascinating to see how Spanish strikers Borja Baston and Fernando Llorente fare.

  9. A crash course in the summerpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 13 August 2016

Manchester City have appointed Pep Guardiola, with Jose Mourinho becoming United boss and Antonio Conte taking over at Chelsea.

United have signed £89m Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and maverick genius Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Manchester City, with £47.5m defender John Stones, and Chelsea, with £30m striker Michy Batshuayi, bought big, while Spurs' £17m signing of AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen went under the radar.

Middlesbrough recruited Alvaro Negredo and Victor Valdes, Crystal Palace signed France's goalkeeper of the year Steve Mandanda. West Ham paid £20.5m on striker Andre Ayew from Swansea, who in turn spent £15m of that on Atletico Madrid's Borja Baston.

What else? Oh yeah there are Premier League games on a Friday, while you can basically do what you want from a kick-off now, bar running with it.

And that is maybe 10% of what has changed in England's top flight since the end of last season.

  10. What's new in the Premier League?published at 13:02 British Summer Time 13 August 2016

In case you've been living in a cave without internet reception all summer (or some parts of the Yorkshire Moors), my colleagues and I have written a piece on what is new in the Premier League.

If you don't want to click on that link, here are the headlines...

  11. All changepublished at 13:00

The Premier League has never seen a summer like it.

Eight new bosses come in, including the most successful Serie A manager of the last five years, the most successful Bundesliga manager over the last five years and the joint most successful Premier League manager of the last five years.

In come the top assist makers from last season in Serie A - for a world-record fee - and the Bundesliga, as well the French and Dutch leagues' top scorers.

The most surprising English champions in history begin their first ever title defence, with more teams than ever expecting to win the league.

Even the more traditionally mid-table/struggling teams have bought big - £12m and £15m signings are no longer being a big deal. Two Euro 2012 winners have even joined a promoted side.

Oh and there are some new rules.

So let's get stuck right in to what could be one of the great Premier League seasons.
