    Hull 2-1 Leicester

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri, speaking to Sky Sports: "They played better. We tried to do our best. Our effort was amazing but it was individual, not as a team. We tried to win but sometimes it's impossible. We made some mistakes and we have to think where we made them.

"I told my players this season will be harder than last season. Today was a normal match, maybe a draw was normal but we lost it. For this reason I told them we must be very strong together because last season we showed ourselves as a very good team and we need to repeat that."

    Hull 2-1 Leicester

Hull caretaker boss Mike Phelan: "We sat our stall out to make sure we had something from the game – it was great to see the team and staff all pull together. It was great to surprise so many people. I think the players have enjoyed themselves today."

    Southampton v Watford (15:00 BST)

Goalkeepers are supposed to look a bit hard aren't they? Saints stopper Fraser Forster is the latest footballer to join the bleach blond crew.

Not a Aaron Ramsey/Lionel Messi head-dipped-into-a-bowl-of-peroxide job though, just a few bits on the top wrapped in tin foil. Think Bernard Sumner out of New Order circa 1987.

You'd have never seen John Burridge with that barnet.

"We've adapted really well to the new manager and everyone has bought into the new tactics," says England keeper Forster. "We can't wait to get going."

Try telling that to Lionel Messi. Or Jamie Vardy, who was released by Sheffield Wednesday for being too small.

Clearly it’s not always true that bigger is better. In football particularly, it really does take all sorts.

Think Marouane Fellaini and Mathieu Valbuena in midfield. Remember that photo from a while back? Disclaimer: Valbuena is leaning back...

A bit of pre-match entertainment at St Mary's in the form of a street beat brass band. They're playing the tune to 'Will Grigg's On Fire' aka 90s dance classic 'Freed from Desire'. Of course they are.

A plea to all football fans: can we think of another tune to sing the praises of our star men this season? Please?
