Alex Curtis: United may lose this game, but it's been a million times more entertaining than anything over the last few years!

Tom McQuillin: As a neutral this must be one of the most exciting games we'll see all season. Brilliant end-to-end stuff!

Fernandinho to the rescue. Daley Blind's cross is headed down by Zlatan towards Rooney but before he can strike, the City midfielder sticks in a boot to clear.

Chances! One at each end. Firstly, Rooney nips in, in the City box, but is denied by a last-gasp challenge and then steered away from goal. Then, down the other end Fernando looks to have a clear run on goal but is quickly closed down and then sees his shot blocked.

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 82 mins

    Man Utd 1-2 Man City

More shenanigans from Bravo. He beats Rooney in the City box and is then felled by an unnecessary late lunge from the United captain. Yellow card.

This leads to a break in play, during which Nicolas Otamendi gets a bandage to the head. Patch me up and send me back in there boss.

Jose's last throw of the dice. Forward Anthony Martial comes on for defender Luke Shaw.

United are going for it, City should now have more space on the break.

10 minutes to go and there are tackles flying in, one team hanging on to a lead, the other desperately looking for a leveller. Derby football at its best.

    Who would be a manager?

It had all been so routine for Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola until today.

In the space of 30 seconds then, Mourinho had his hands out imploring referee Mark Clattenburg to give his side a penalty when Wayne Rooney's cross was blocked. Then Guardiola had his head in his hands when Kevin de Bruyne's shot struck a post and rolled across the United goal.

Just a normal game? Yeah, right.

Fight to the finish here and Manchester City are starting to threaten more as Manchester United push for the equaliser. Pep Guardiola thought that was the clincher from Kevin de Bruyne but turned away in horror as his shot hit the inside of the post.

This is ideal for City. As the game wears on United are committing more men forward and are leaving gaps for the likes of Silva and De Bruyne to exploit. It's just a matter of time until someone hits the target...

De Bruyne does take it... and fires it over the bar.

City free-kick. For a foul by Rooney on Fernandinho. Right on the edge of the box. I think De Bruyne will take this one...

Nathan Titus: Never thought I'd say this ever, that Fellaini and Ibrahimovic linking up well up front for Man Utd.

Sir Charles: OMG! Is this the same Pogba they banked United winning the league on?

Dave W: Utd pass the ball directly to feet instead of into space which means the receiver has to stand and wait until the ball arrives.

There will (probably justifiably) be people who will say it is still early days in his (second) United career but, as with much of the games in which I've seen him, I'm yet to see why Paul Pogba is worth £89m.

Imagine what Patrick Vieira would fetch on the modern market?

  18. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 74 mins

    Man Utd 1-2 Man City

How has this not gone in. An incisive City break ends with De Bruyne firing a low shot that beats De Gea at his near post, strikes the inside of the post and then runs along the line and past the other upright.

    Man Utd 1-2 Man City

David de Gea has had a quality two minutes. His superb long kick releases Herrera down the left but his cross is cut out. Cue two United corners - cleared by City - and another shout for a penalty for handball against Fernando, which is rightly waved away.
