Mark Underwood: What's the odds on Mark Hughes being the first Premier League manager getting the chop this season? Not the best of starts

David McNaught: With or without the ball Andros Townsend has been a stand out Palace player today

Matt Moore: Alan Pardew that's some of the worst high fives I've seen. As bad as Stoke in fact

    Andros Townsend (74 mins)

Mark Hughes might be clearing his desk tomorrow morning if he isn't careful. His Stoke side concede four goals for the third time this season as Andros Townsend scores a wonderful solo goal.

The Palace winger storms down the left flank, cuts inside with a clever flick, then smashes in from 20 yards.

    James McArthur (71 mins)

Guess what? Yep. Crystal Palace score from a set-piece. Well, from the second phase anyway.

Jason Puncheon's free-kick from the right byeline - given for petulant dig at Andros Townsend by Stoke's Marko Arnautovic - is partially cleared by the away defence as James McArthur picks up the scraps.

The Palace midfielder curls towards the far post only for a big deflection from Geoff Cameron to take the ball past Shay Given.

    Crystal Palace 2-0 Stoke

I'm sounding like a broken record here... Crystal Palace threaten to score again, and again it is from a set piece. Another delivery into the box causes havoc, the ball pings around off a few legs before Stoke clear.

I think I know what defensive drills Mark Hughes will be planning for the Stoke lads in training this week.

    Charlie Austin

And there it is! Southampton finally make the breakthrough and substitute Charlie Austin is the man who does it. Dusan Tadic's right-wing cross is looped into the air by Jordi Amat's boot, falling to Austin at the far post. He smartly controls with his chest before thumping in. Saints get what they deserve.

    Southampton 0-0 Swansea

How did this not go in?! Southampton carve open Swansea again through Nathan Redmond's legs, the pacy forward squaring to sub Charlie Austin. He smacks a rising shot against the crossbar - with the ball hitting the back of Lukasz Fabianski and spinning agonisingly wide. A goal is coming...

Southampton are still loitering with intent outside the Swansea goal. Oriol Romeu is the latest to go close, heading a corner into the ground and over the bar.

Saints boss Claude Puel has seen enough. Off trot Shane Long and Jordy Clasie, with Charlie Austin and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg summoned from the bench.

Surely?! No. An almighty scramble in the Stoke six-yard box sees legs moving about like flippers as they try to ping the pinball into the slot. Three Palace players try to bundle it in, Stoke somehow survive.

    Crystal Palace 2-0 Stoke

"Pick your man, stick with him and don't let him get above you." The words of many Sunday League managers this morning and probably the words of Mark Hughes at the half-time break. His Stoke players haven't listened.

Another Palace set-piece, almost another Palace goal. Scott Dann - scorer of the second - almost heads in a third, Bojan mucking in defensively to clear off the line.

    Southampton 0-0 Swansea

Southampton do have the ball in the net. But it won't count. Nathan Redmond is adjudged, wrongly in my opinion, to be offside before he squares to Shane Long to fire in.

Southampton have carried on where they left off - on the prowl for the opener. Shane Long drills a low cross down the corridor of uncertainty between Swans keeper Lukasz Fabianski and his defence, but Kyle Naughton brilliantly clears with Dusan Tadic hovering over his shoulder.
