  1. Manager reaction - Walter Mazzarripublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 18 September 2016

    Watford 3-1 Manchester United

Before we get back under way at Selhurst Park and St Mary's, let's get a bit more reaction from the day's early game, where Watford boss Walter Mazzarri has been reflecting on his side's impressive win over Manchester United.

"It is a very important three points to give my players the confidence to go ahead," he said, via an interpreter.

"We were playing well, we conceded a goal and we stopped playing and we were afraid but then we made the changes and everything went the right way. It is something we need to work on.

"We have been improving, I don't look too much on results but how we play and we have been improving dramatically."

Asked what he thought about the controversy surrounding Watford's first goal - Jose Mourinho thought Anthony Martial was fouled - he didn't need an interpreter to translate the question. He immediately said that they had been on the other side of some bad decisions and he doesn't talk about it.

    Crystal Palace 2-0 Stoke

Palace haven't won at home in the Premier League this season. But only a fool would back them not doing it now. Headers from James Tomkins and Scott Dann - within two minutes and 14 seconds of each other - have put Palace in command.

    Southampton 0-0 Swansea

All Southampton, but they have nothing to show for their efforts. Nathan Redmond will sitting in the corner of the dressing room with a rather sheepish expression. The England Under 21 forward should have put the home side ahead.

Into stoppage time at Selhurst Park. We're not expecting much added time. Stoke's players won't be relishing facing an angry Mark Hughes in the confined space of a dressing room.

My word. Nathan Redmond has missed a sitter. The Southampton forward does all the hard work, smartly cutting inside a Swans defender to leave him staring into the whites of Lukasz Fabianski's eyes. Composure! No. Redmond blazes wildly over the bar.

Oooh, this is interesting. Shane Long goes tumbling in the penalty area as Federico Fernandez comes hurtling across. Long looks up, the home fans demand a penalty. Referee Mike Jones points...the other way. And books Long for diving. He can't believe it. And frankly neither can I. You've seen then given.

Who'd have thought flogging two of your best forwards leaves you lacking a bit of attacking punch? Saints are looking good until the final third.

Stuart, Deal: Ridiculous to say Stoke are going down after 5 games.

Dominic, a QPR fan: What's this? Mark Hughes managing a team floundering hopelessly at the bottom of the table? How can this be?

Luke Woodward: Terrible time to be a Stoke fan. No idea what's going on recently..

If Stoke are going to salvage anything from this match then they had better get cracking. The visitors enjoy a bit of possession in the Palace half, but are still yet to rack up a shot on target. Ryan Shawcross heads a free-kick over the bar.

And that goal we talked about needing almost arrives. Steven Davis's left-wing corner is met at the near post by Virgil van Dijk, only for his header to lack power. Swans keeper Lukasz Fabianski gathers comfortably.

Not much happening - in terms of goalmouth action at least - at St Mary's. Southampton are controlling the game but not really threatening. This match needs a goal as it passes the half-hour mark.

    Watford 3-1 Man Utd

More from Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho: "We started the season very well and had good results. I feel the first moment we had a defeat, a difficult situation, some of the boys are having a bit of difficulty coping with the negativity.

"You see Ashley Young, his mentality the happiness and confidence he brought to the game is something more players need to have."

  18. 'We were the best team when we lost'published at 14:44 British Summer Time 18 September 2016

    Watford 3-1 Man Utd

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho speaking to BBC Sport: “I reflect on three factors from the match, but only one of them I can improve.

"The first factor depends on ourselves, it relates to our individual mistakes and collective mistakes as individual players and as a team. We have to improve something, it is in our hands.

"The second factor is the referee and I can’t control their mistakes, The story of the game is the result and not the ridiculous situation of the first goal.

"The third factor is luck, we didn’t have it. We were the best team when we lost. Heurelho Gomes made a phenomenal save from a Zlatan Ibrahimovic header."
