David Williams: Sterling needs to get his head up and pass the ball in the box. Greedy play. Since the goal, he's done it a couple of times.

Steve Bryant: Dele Alli might be having a good season, but he's been bog average today.

Wayne Ellis: No movement off the ball? Check. No teammate within 20 yards of the player in possession? Check. Same as it ever was...

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain can consider himself fortunate to be selected by England manager Gareth Southgate after an indifferent time at Arsenal.

He has, so far, done nothing to justify the faith Southgate has shown in him in a first 45 minutes that can best be described as "undistinguished".

What's changed? England are struggling to beat Lithuania, wow. It's boring. They went to Germany and played alright but let's remember that Roy Hodgson's England beat Germany 3-2.

Robbie is taking your calls after the game alongside Jason Mohammad on BBC Radio 5 live's 606.

Edward Taylor: How has the linesman missed that? Luckily it didn't cost England.

Johnny Magrinho: Bizarre from Joe Hart but how was that not given as offside? It wasnt even close - he was about 15 yards offside! Woeful.

Alessandro Corbino: Lithuanian striker was well offside but Hart showing what he's been doing all season at Torino! Shouldn't be No1 anymore!

Jay:  Joe Hart is fantastic - for excitement, not goalkeeping.

    Danny Mills
Ex-England defender on BBC Radio 5 live

That was a ridiculous decision not to flag offside. The centre forward was five yards ahead of the last man. How the linesman didn't spot that... The header from Nerijus Valskis was weak enough for John Stones to get back and nod off the line.

Actually, Joe Hart was not as culpable as we first thought. It is the linesman who drops a clanger.

The Lithuania striker was only about five yards offside when the ball came forward, hence Joe Hart coming out to collect without having to fear being challenged.

But the linesman reckoned Valskis was onside...

That's that then. Pretty straightforward for England.

Without incident, did I say?! Joe Hart tries his best to wake everyone up, steaming out his goal to meet a long header forward, only to get beaten to the ball by Nerijus Valskis.

Luckily John Stones is alert to get back and hack clear before the ball troubles the whitewash.

  9. INJURY TIMEpublished at 45 mins

One minute of stoppage time. That should pass without major incident, I'd suggest.

    Stick with it Terry.

Get it out wide! Dele Alli tries to plough down the middle, but that's too easy for the away defence who clear.

Ooooh, that is fortunate. Adam Lallana tries to dribble his way out of trouble about 30 yards from his own goal, hunted down by a pair of Lithuanians. They appear to win the ball cleanly, but the referee decides otherwise.

    Jermain DefoeImage source, Reuters

Johnny Magrinho: Defoe hat trick please. At final whistle his best mate Bradley could get the match ball. That would be amazing.

Oumesh Sauba: The most deadly England striker in front of goal and overlooked by all previous England managers

Si's Insights:  Hmmm. When was the last time I got legitimate full on joy from watching England? Possibly that friendly v Argentina.

Ryan Bertrand gets a little sloppy. The England left-back takes his eye off the ball for a milli-second, leading to a miscontrol and letting the ball slip out of play before he delivers a cross from the byeline.

If I was at Wembley I'd be tempted to head downstairs for a chicken balti pie.

Now it has gone really quiet. Not much to say really.

England looking very comfortable in possession, Michael Keane particularly looking assured with the ball at his feet.

Done well in his 129 minutes in an England shirt has the Burnley man.

All gone a bit quiet at Wembley. England still controlling the game, although briefly allowing Lithuania some time in their territory. That ends when Adam Lallana wins a free-kick and getting a whack on the head.

    Azerbaijan 1-2 Germany

A reminder of how tricky some of these qualifiers can be...

World Cup holders Germany had conceded an equaliser against Azerbaijan, only for Thomas Muller to put them 2-1 up again five minutes later.

England are now the only side not to have conceded in European qualifying.

Raheem Sterling is playing with as much confidence as a member of One Direction plays on a dating app. Bags of it.

The England winger dances on the outside of the Lithuanian right-back, trying to get to the byeline and cut back to a white-shirted team mate.

But a slightly heavy touch allows  keeper Ernestas Setkus to come out and smother.

Terry's right. How he didn't see yellow only the referee knows. Thankfully Dele Alli is fine, back on his feet and jogging normally. Albeit with a slightly stinging ankle one would assume.

That should have been a yellow card. That was endangering the health of the player.
