Andrew Priestley: Fantastic that NI have qualified for the playoffs, but a win in Oslo is still necessary to boost their chances of being seeded.

Great save! That was a reaction save. Michael McGovern didn't know it was offside so that was great reflexes from the goalkeeper.

Ball in the Northern Ireland net! Offside. Either way, it was an amazing initial save from Michael McGovern, with the rebound being poked in. By that time, the assistant referee had intervened.

That looked like a penalty! George Saville made the chance himself.

But I have just watched it again on the monitor and he probably let it go too far in front of him.

That is a nice start from the lad though - it was only his second or third touch! You would definitely like to see him get a full 90 minutes in the green shirt.

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

Penalty? George Saville, the Northern Ireland substitute on for Oliver Norwood, finds himself surging into the Norway box. He takes a little too long to get his shot away, then is squeezed by two, maybe three defenders. The ref isn't interested. Probably rightly so.

Can Azerbaijan, who have never qualified for a World Cup or European Championship, get a result against Germany?

Azerbaijan also leveled at 1-1 in the first leg in the reverse fixture of this qualifying campaign.

They are the only team to have scored home and away against the reigning world champions.

  10. 'NI could avoid Italy'published at 20:43 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

    John Southall
BBC Radio Five Live football reporter

Norway have carried the greater threat in the first half, with Michael McGovern in the Northern Ireland goal twice excelling himself. I wonder how long the likes of Jonny Evans, Steve Davis and Oliver Norwood will remain on the pitch with all three one yellow card away from a suspension?

A win for Northern Ireland should also enhance their chances of being seeded in the play-offs, which could be really important to potentially miss the likes of Italy or Portugal.

  11. 'We can't change genetics'published at 20:41 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Slovenia 2-2 Scotland

"We were against a physically stronger side, and a side that's never let a goal in here," added Strachan. "The physical side, we knew set plays would be a problem - and they scored from two set plays. We can't change genetics.

"We just can't play the biggest people in Scotland. Technically, we're fine but our guys have got to work harder on the ball than say bigger lads at 6ft 2in, or 6ft 3in.

"It's an honour to be their (players) coach because I've been fortunate to be successful with other teams and get to places."

  12. Strachan not thinking about futurepublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

Scotland manager Gordon Strachan says he is not considering his future after missing out on the World Cup play-offs.

"At this moment, I am the last person thinking about that [his future]," he said. "I have got to look after the players. We are hurting, no one is hurting like the players, it's impossible.

"The fans can't hurt like that, I can't hurt. There shouldn't be any talk about what I'm thinking or what I'm doing at this moment in time because I am just looking after them.

"Hopefully nobody in sport will have to feel like these guys are feeling at the moment."

  14. NI fans fancy Wales in play-offspublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

Wales seem to be the preferred potential play-off opponents for these Northern Ireland supporters, interviewed as they entered the Ullevaal Stadium prior to tonight's game.

Revenge for elimination from Euro 2016 at the hands of Chris Coleman's side on their mind, perhaps?

  15. Elsewhere in Europe...published at 20:33 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Half-time

That equaliser from Azerbaijan seems to have stunned Germany a little. They go into the half-time break 1-1 and the reigning champions will not be happy with that scoreline despite already securing qualification.

Czech Republic have a comfortable 3-0 lead over San Marino.

  16. HALF-TIMEpublished at 45 mins

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

Barely 20 seconds of added time tells you all you need to know about that first half. It warmed up slightly, from cold to tepid, but it felt very end-of-term. I wouldn't be surprised if the players come in non-uniform and play board games in the second half.

  17. 'Evans does the donkey work'published at 20:28 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

    John O'Neill

I like Corry Evans in the side. He does a lot of the donkey work that you don't always see from players.

He chases the ball and hunts defenders down. When you have the likes of Evans in the team it allows other players freedom to get up the pitch.

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

Nearly half-time. Are Northern Ireland more pleased with the black scoresheet, or the blank page in the referee's notebook? The fans are still singing. It'll be decent in Oslo later tonight.

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

It's taken almost all of the first half, but this is turning into a decent game. Stuart Dallas is penalised on the edge of his own box for handlball (no booking). The resulting free-kick is swung towards the top corner by Stefan Johansen, only for Michael McGovern to paw it away.

  20. Mustafi injured as Azerbaijan levelpublished at 20:23 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Germany 1-1 Azerbaijan

Not the scoreline you may have been expecting! Moments after Sandro Wagner fired against the post Azerbaijan level it up as Ramil Seydaev turns Antonio Rudiger inside out and fires home!

In the build-up, Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi pinged his hamstring and has gone off.
