    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

This is more like it. Northern Ireland go up the other end and force Orjan Nyland into action. Steven Davis' shot bounces off the keeper, the ball looking slippery. It's woken up.

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

This one hasn't captured the imagination of the locals - there are plenty of empty seats on three sides in Oslo. The Northern Ireland end is pretty much rammed, all green shirts and flags. Those fans are behind the goal as Norway have a corner on the right. It's headed away, with Birger Meling volleying towards goal, forcing Michael McGovern to save. That's the closest either side have come.

It was well off target from Oliver Norwood.

He's a nice passer and is good on the ball but that wasn't even close to going in.

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

Now it's Northern Ireland's turn to try something speculative from distance. Chris Brunt tricks his way down the left, working the ball back to Oliver Norwood, who is far enough out to be somewhere near Sweden. His daisy-cutter is well wide.

The two thousand Northern Ireland fans are doing the "bouncy" inside the Ullevaal Stadium, they're enjoying themselves.

And why not? It's been another terrific campaign from a team gelled together by Michael O'Neill. On the pitch at the moment there are players from Millwall, Fulham, Blackburn, Charlton, QPR and Leeds and, as Scotland miss out again, it's certainly food for thought.

Action. Sort of. Alexander Sorloth finds space on the edge of the Northern Ireland box, but his left-footed shot almost goes out of the stadium.

  7. Goals elsewherepublished at 20:11 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

This is the only match in Group C without a goal.

Czech Republic are already leading San Marino 2-0 and Germany have a 1-0 lead over Azerbaijan.

There could be plenty more goals to come in those games.

Kyle: You clearly missed Jonny Evans' Cruyff turn against Alexis Sanchez last week.

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

There's not much happening out there at the minute. The players are just saying 'you have a go, then we'll have a go.'

It's very much like a training match at the moment.

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

I'd like to see how many touches all of the players on the pitch have had. I reckon the two pairs of centre-halves will be near the top of the list. We're in testimonial territory. There's no chance of a Northern Irish players going in the book if it stays like this.

  12. Germany aheadpublished at 20:04 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Germany 1-0 Azerbaijan

The first of what could be many as Germany take the lead in Azerbaijan.

It's a brilliant goal too, midfielder Leon Goretzka backheeling the ball into the ground and sending it spinning up into the top corner. A stroke of class.

  13. Salah sends Egypt throughpublished at 20:02 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Egypt 2-1 Congo

Arnold Bouka scored late on for Congo but Mo Salah netted his second goal of the night in the fifth minute of stoppage time to send Egypt through to their first World Cup since 1990.

They currently top African Group E by four points with only one game left to play.

  14. Postpublished at 16 mins

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

Norway show willing for the first time in a while. The ball is moved to the left, only for Birger Meling's cross to be comfortably dealt with by an unruffled Northern Ireland defence. Is it too early to say that I think this one could end goalless?

  15. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

Has this one got an end-of-term feeling. I'm not sure I've seen a tackle yet. When you see Jonny Evans pulling off a Cruyff turn, you know we're bordering on exhibition. Northern Ireland are the better side, even if they are keeping the ball with the nearest red shirt about 20 yards away.

  16. 'It's a nothing match'published at 19:54 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

Northern Ireland deserve to be in the play-offs. Whether we see players being taken off or not will depend on how the game goes on.

It's a nothing match for both teams really. Hopefully the referee will look at it in that way too and be happy enough to keep his cards in his pocket.

  17. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland's first effort. The ball is bouncing around the Norway box, with Steven Davis eventually volleying straight at the keeper. He didn't get all of that, so it was pretty tame in the end. Visiting fans are still providing the soundtrack.

  18. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

Michael O'Neill is teaching a piece of chewing gum a lesson. There's a red lanyard around his neck - I'm always bemused that the managers need ID to make it to the dugout. Northern Ireland have a foothold. Nice work down the right ends in a Connor McLaughlin cross flashing past goal.

  19. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

The Northern Ireland fans are having a right knees-up behind the goal to the right. "We're on our way to Russia," is the song. Norway have made the better start. Northern Ireland are chasing shadows early doors.

  20. KICK-OFFpublished at 19:45 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

Under way. Norway, in their usual red, are attacking the goal to the right as we look. Northern Ireland are in their change strip of white shirts, green shorts and white socks.
