There were questions whether Che Adams could hack it in the Championship, but this will quieten some of the doubters.

Adams strikes home Stephen Gleeson's delivery first time to send Blues fans into raptures.

Meanwhile, Huddersfield have taken the lead in their Yorkshire derby with Barnsley thanks to Chris Lowe.

Chris Lowe sounds like a very English name, but the German helped Borussia Dortmund win the Bundesliga in 2012.

What a great finish that was from a difficult angle from Che Adams. He has grown into this game. The first 10 minutes were a bit shaky but since then he has really taken a grip.

    Blackburn 1-0 Burton

Blackburn were bottom of the Championship without a point before this game but Craig Conway has given them the lead with a strike that goes in off the crossbar. I love those type of goals...

    Birmingham 0-0 Wolves

Early change in the West Midlands derby as Lee Evans is down receiving treatment.

He's not joking around either, and is replaced by Dave Edwards - a man who helped Wales reach the European Championship semi-finals this summer.

  6. Championship re-cappublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

Five goals in the Championship so far, but only Newcastle leading.

John Swift's early goal for Reading was cancelled out by an own goal for Brighton by Joey van den Berg.

And, at the City Ground, Wigan's Michael Jacobs has cancelled out Forest's opener by Britt Assombalonga, who has since gone off injured.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are ahead at Bristol City courtesy of Dwight Gayle's third goal this week.

  7. goal

GOAL (Gayle)published at 15:20 British Summer Time 20 August 2016

    Bristol City 0-1 Newcastle United

Rafael Benitez's Newcastle, as they are now going to be known as, have taken the lead at Ashton Gate.

Dwight Gayle is the man to put them in front with a great first-time finish from a ball over the top.

That's Gayle's fourth goal in four games for Newcastle. Not a bad signing, methinks.

    Quote Message

"That goal, in a nutshell, had been coming. By the time Dwight Gayle superbly fired past Richard O'Donnell to give Newcastle a deserved lead at Ashton Gate, Issac Hayden had already headed wide when perhaps he should've done better. Bristol City look threatening on the break, but they'll need to see a lot more from Lee Tomlin and Jonathan Kodjia if they're to grab hold of this match."

Bristol City's biggest crowd for 26 years almost saw the visitors take the lead.

Isaac Hayden has wasted a glorious chance to put Newcastle United ahead when he headed fellow summer signing Matt Ritchie's cross wide.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest goalscorer Britt Assombalonga, who has really suffered with injury over the last few years, has come off after 15 minutes...

The goals are also beginning to flow in League One.

Daniel Agye has scored on his Coventry debut as they lead at Bradford. Oldham have grabbed the lead in their derby against Bury with Leon Barnett turning into his own net, with Millwall, Scunthorpe and Chesterfield also now ahead.

    Nottingham Forest 1-1 Wigan

    Michael JacobsImage source, Rex Features

Nottingham Forest should have found the net more than once in this match, but it is Wigan who have been the more clinical.

Alex Gilbey, a summer signing from Colchester United, pulls the ball back for Michael Jacobs to bring the newly-promoted side level.

In a second blow for Forest, goalscorer Britt Assombalonga has gone off with a hamstring injury suffered while scoring.

Straight away, Championship leaders Brighton respond to going behind and are level thanks to an own goal from Joey van der Berg, who headed home a corner past his own goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, Britt Assombalonga has given Nottingham Forest the lead against Wigan. That's already his third of the season.

Van den Berg was under lots of pressure, but he got the last touch. He's is saying he was pushed. Another set piece goes against Reading, but what a start to this game.

The first EFL goal of the day has come at the Madejski Stadium and Brighton manager Chris Hughton will be fuming with his side.

It's the first goal they have conceded this campaign as John Swift's inswinging free-kick delivery evades everyone and finds its way into the net.

The only side not to concede in the EFL now...? Port Vale.
