This is a really, really bad game of football. 

Reece Burke shows that he's a centre-half at heart, as he gets free on the left thanks to good work from Gokhan Tore but can only screw a first-time cross behind the goal. He had men in the middle but couldn't find them.

Michail Antonio has been tried at right-back this season, he's on the left wing now. He has to cut inside to cross and Cheikhou Kouyate rises highest to meet it but he can only float a header tamely over the top.

Winston Reid has to be careful, just been booked and now he's arguing with the referee after he stops some pushing and shoving in the box.

Astra keeper Silviu Lung then shanks a clearance straight to Jonathan Calleri but for the second time already the striker's touch isn't good enough. Chance gone.

Winston Reid is booked for a lunge which draws applause from the fans nearest the action but anger from the referee. He went right through Denis Alibec, and it's a booking all day long.

West Ham are looking to push their full-backs on beyond the defence at every opportunity, trying to get crosses into the box from behind the back four. 

There's been much more promise and quality in the last five or six minutes. 

West Ham are maybe not turning the screw just yet, but they have at least identified which tools are required. It's building. 

Astra Giurgiu look a mess defending corners. That could be West Ham's best route to goal in this game.

Remember, 0-0 takes the Hammers through. 

It has been a good start from Reece Burke, positive going forward and an eye for a pass. It's all a bit slow though until Pedro Obiang winds up a strike from 25 yards which Silviu Lung has to push away! Great save and Winston Reid is close to smuggling in the corner as well.

West Ham should really be ahead.

Reece Burke has impressed me. He played at centre-back for Bradford on loan last season and West Ham have high hopes for him. He's been eager to get forward. 

The Hammers are just easing into the ascendancy.

Steady start from both sides. West Ham look a classier side but Astra pose a threat on the break.

Super play from Reece Burke to find Jonathan Calleri, who was half a yard offside actually but still he fluffed his lines. Big moment. Best chance of the game.

Ah, it should be the opener for West Ham! Left-back Reece Burke plays a fine pass through the Astra backline, Jonathan Calleri is maybe just offside but there's no flag, a good first touch and it's a goal.

It's not a great tough though, the ball gets rather trapped under his feet and goalkeeper Silviu Lung saves his scoop.

With Andre Ayew out and Andy Carroll out for who knows how long, Jonathan Calleri has been given a chance up front. He missed a one-on-one against Bournemouth on Sunday but as he gets up to speed I think he could challenge Enner Valencia to start. He's one to watch.

West Ham winger Gokhan Tore played well at the weekend and he's started well tonight, a lovely first touch and turn sees him skip past Junior Morais with ease.

West Ham waste the free-kick though and Astra counter, before Denis Alibec hits an early, horrible shot over the top.

Former West Brom midfielder Filipe Teixeira squares a free-kick to captain Junior Morais, and his ambitious long-range shot is an easy pouch for keeper Darren Randolph. Confident enough start from the visitors.
