  1. Reds early pressurepublished at 48 mins

    Swansea 1-0 Liverpool

Liverpool make a far better start to this half than they did to the first.

Roberto Firmino launches a low effort from 25 yards but Lukasz Fabianski saves easily low to his right.

Moments later Sadio Mane's square ball along the six-yard area is watched by Jordi Amat, for what seems like an age, before he decides to clear his area.

Tom Smith: How can Sturridge be booked for diving when Henderson was given a yellow card on the halfway line for an identical tackle

Mark Campion: Should be 3-0. Lots of work for Swans to do to win this still! Borja to come good 2nd half?

Adam Mitchell: Has Sturridge been gripped late by Olympic fever? His trial for the 2020 Olympic dive team is a bit early.

Swansea boss Francesco Guidolin will be delighted with his defence in the first half, particularly with their organisation. They've had a couple of desperate tackles like their lives depended on it.

The fact Swansea have worked so hard and limited Liverpool to so few clear chances is very impressive. Where has this performance been from Swansea?

That's the least impressive 45 minutes from Liverpool so far this season. However, Liverpool are definitely coming into the game. Let's see if Jurgen Klopp can rouse his players to get back into the match.

  8. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    Swansea 1-0 Liverpool

    That's that.

Francesco Guidolin looks at the pitch then walks off. He's held a similar pained expression throughout the first 45 minutes. The antithesis of Blue Steel.

His team are leading though. Don't worry, be happy Francesco.

  9. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Swansea 1-0 Liverpool

Brief respite for the Swans as they win a free-kick at the other end - but Gylfi Sigursson's 25-yard strike is held by Loris Karius, just.

    He didn't look confident.

    HT approaching.

Johnny Magrinho: I don't care how theatrical you fall over, if you've been fouled, you've been fouled. Worst yellow card for simulation ever.

Alistair Lowe: As brilliant as they were last week, Liverpool polar opposite today. No zip, accuracy or composure. Bad. Move on. 2nd half now!

  11. What a block!published at 43 mins

    Swansea 1-0 Liverpool

Brilliant, brilliant work by defender Jordi Amat who races into the area and blocks a fierce goalbound effort from Liverpool's Sadio Mane.

Moments later, Leroy Fer produces another block to deny Roberto Firmino from eight yards out.

Not quite the Alamo in the Swans area, but Alamo-ish.

    Swansea 1-0 Liverpool

    Pat Nevin
Ex-Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 live

That's a dive! There's not enough contact for Daniel Sturridge to go to ground there. The phraseology is 'he's making the most of it'. He deserved his yellow card from referee Michael Oliver.

  13. YELLOW CARDSpublished at 39 mins

    Swansea 1-0 Liverpool

Swansea's Jack Cork goes into the book for a foul on Nathaniel Clyne.

And then Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge, who came on for Adam Lallana a little earlier, is judged by Michael Oliver to have dived after he comes in contact with Wayne Routledge in the area.

Liverpool were fantastic to a man against Chelsea a few weeks ago when I saw them. At the moment it's only one player, in Sadio Mane, who has shown that he is at that level in the first half at the Liberty Stadium so far. Swansea have been really well organised.

    Swansea 1-0 Liverpool

    Ian Dennis

Liverpool will surely, at some point, click into life in this game. It's been a tired performance from Jurgen Klopp's side so far.

  16. Reds chancepublished at 37 mins

    Swansea 1-0 Liverpool

Half a chance. A Liverpool corner is swung in from the right and eventually reaches the feet of Philippe Coutinho who falls as he volleys towards goal. His effort from 10 yards is blocked Leroy Fer.

That will hearten the travelling support. A little.

Dave, Manchester: If Baston knew where the goal was, Swansea would be 3-0 up now. Very impressive.

Sho Rahman: Borja is having an absolute shocker. Wonder if he'll make it a hatrick of sitters

Tom Chance: Echoes of 2013/14 Chelsea from Liverpool, beat all the big teams but lose the title by dropping points against weaker sides.

  18. Liverpool shakenpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    Swansea 1-0 Liverpool

    Dafydd Pritchard

Much was made of the way Liverpool dominated possession in their only other defeat this season at Burnley.

But so far at the Liberty Stadium, Jurgen Klopp's side have yet to settle and have looked shaken by Swansea's strong start.

However, with the game only half an hour old, these are early days yet and Klopp seems calm on the touchline.

It is the two touches in the penalty area - both good headed chances, both missed - that will be concerning Borja Baston right now. And, come to think of it, probably Jurgen Klopp as well.

  20. Swansea in controlpublished at 32 mins

    Swansea 1-0 Liverpool

Look, Liverpool are always a danger with their slick passing and pace on the break. However, they haven't been able to get a foothold on the game because of Swansea's brilliant pressing.

The Swans have also, thus far, managed to get back in great numbers to nullify any Reds threat. It's worked a treat so far.

They are, of course, a kick away from being on the end of a Coutinho 25 yarder.
