  2. 'Walcott has a different mindset'published at 14:19 British Summer Time 22 October 2016

It is like the Gunners only had half a player - until now.

Theo has a different mindset because at the age of 27 he has reached a stage of his career where alarm bells are ringing.

He has been at the club for more than 10 years now and he is not prepared to be a bit-part player any more.

The switch to playing Alexis Sanchez instead of Olivier Giroud up front has definitely helped Walcott and Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil thrive too.

Sanchez runs in behind defences more, and Arsenal's build-up play is quicker. The Gunners are like speed kings on the break, particularly with Walcott and Spain full-back Hector Bellerin down the right.

Walcott is seeing the benefits of his hard work at the moment and is getting plenty of plaudits for it - but he needs to view this period as only the start of showing what he is capable of.

  8. Time for Barkley to step up?published at 14:10 British Summer Time 22 October 2016

    Burnley v Everton (15:00 BST)

Ronald Koeman said Ross Barkley "is no longer a young talent" on Thursday, as the Everton boss revealed he expects better performances from the midfielder.

Barkley, 22, was left out of the Everton team for the first time under Dutchman Koeman as the Toffees drew 1-1 at Manchester City last Saturday.

Koeman said the decision was "tactical" as he wanted to field a side "with more pressing than normal".

But he added that he hoped Barkley's omission was "a good wake-up call".

"He is already playing four years in the first team. You are not any more a talent, that means you need to show you have improved," Koeman said.

"I still believe in his qualities, but if I am not totally happy or it is a tactical question, he does not start. His reaction was positive. He was very disappointed, which you need to be."

I think Leicester over play compared to last season.

I also think they are doing Vardy a disservice, they are not playing him the way they did last season.

They are not setting him free.

Arsenal have won just one of their last six Premier League matches against Middlesbrough, though four of these were draws.

You've got to wind back to 2001 for the last time Boro won away at Arsenal in the league.

Highbury was the scene of a 3-0 Boro triumph - even Hamilton Ricard scored!

But the Gunners got their own back six years later when they thumped a Steve McClaren-led side 7-0, in the final season they played at Highbury.

Bad news for any oligarchs lining up a marquee signing - Barcelona forward Neymar has finally signed his new five-year contract, committing him to the club until 2021, over three months after it was agreed.

The 24-year-old Brazil international agreed the deal, which increases his release clause to 200m euros (£178m), on 1 July.

The clause rises to 222m euros (£200m) in the second year and 250m euros for the final three.

Neymar has scored 91 goals in 150 games for the club since his 2013 move.

Actually, is that release clause a good deal...?
