Mark Schumann: What's the point of Stones dilly dallying around with the ball only to pass to Hart who then boots the ball up the pitch?

Will Eric Dier's free-kick against Russia in the summer be the only one he ever scores for England?

Windsor Park was hushed during a number of pre-match Armistice Day events, including fans displaying cards in the form of a poppy, but it's been a noisy opening with both sets of supporters in full voice.

The rain is still teaming down as Chris Brunt and Maksim Medvedev, both with heads bandaged after a goalmouth collision, return to the fray.

Barry Ferguson, captain when Scotland last played - and won - a competitive match at Wembley is round at his folks' house to watch the game with brother Derek, another former international. BBC Scotland's Kenny Crawford has popped in for a cup of tea.

I am starting to see little signs that England are realising this is not a normal international game.

They are picking it up now.

    England 0-0 Scotland

Eric Dier beats two men in midfield, almost, but definitely not quite, like Spurs team-mate Moussa Dembele. A smart piece of play but it ends with a poor cross from Adam Lallana.

England have been very poor in this opening 20 minutes. Pressed very hard, but struggling.

Scotland have beaten England once in a competitive outing in the last 31 years - that came in 1999.

Before that it was 1985 - May to be precise. Dire Straits were number one in the UK album chart with 'Brothers in Arms.'

That England U21 game was very enjoyable! It really was. They'd give the full England team a good game I reckon.

The early break-neck tempo at Wembley is fading now. Scotland are working so, so hard.

Josh in Bristol: I think I was more excited about the England U21 squad that played Italy yesterday. I almost wish Southgate had brought them all up to the senior side with him. More passionate, more resilient, more daring and in some ways more technically gifted.

England are having some uncomfortable early moments here as Scotland simply refuse to give them any time on the ball in any area of the pitch. They are finding themselves instantly under pressure from those in lurid pink.

Sterling had got there first, that is a penalty.

If that is in the middle of the park the referee gives a free-kick straight away.

England have started lethargically. When you know you are technically better you can go into a mode of thinking you can pop them off the park.

England need to get into the mindset of knowing they need to do the dirty work.
