The Scottish defence is floundering now as Kyle Walker breaks tackles like Jonah Lomu in his pomp, the ball breaks for Jamie Vardy, he cuts it back and Wayne Rooney would have a tap-in if he had stayed where he was. Hooked clear. 

A strange atmosphere now really. The game is long gone, England have not done much but are winning comfortably. A few fans trickle out as Robert Snodgrass is replaced by Matt Ritchie. 

BBC Sport's Alvin McCaig in Belfast: "Done and dusted - a timely third goal, and a first in international football for Conor McLaughlin, after Azerbaijan's brief and only spell of potent attacking. So impressed are the fans that they are comparing their heroes with a certain South American team. Northern Ireland are going second in Group C."

Gordon Strachan could do with a time machine to go with those six subs. He does make a change but it's Callum Paterson coming on, not Graeme Souness.

Scotland are paying for that intense start now, they look very leggy and tired as Raheem Sterling leads them on a merry dance on the edge of the penalty area. Sterling squares it for Jamie Vardy - and he just can't meet it...

Maybe not. Pat Nevin doesn't think so and that's good enough for me. England are on course to go unbeaten in qualifying again and then lose to the first good team they face in Russia.

Scotland are staring at fifth place in Group F by the end of the evening, six points behind England and four behind Slovenia. There may only have been four games played, but a play-off place looks a remote possibility now.

This is as bleak as I can remember. It's not been the worst performance of this campaign but Scotland are 3-0 down. Maybe this is our level.

Daniel Sturridge comes off for England as on comes Jamie Vardy. Not really what a tiring Scotland defence want to see. 

Stuart Mitchell: I would give Strachan another match, good performance from Scotland minus the finishing, could have been a very different game

Joseph Kalangher: I think England are better off without Kane.No offence to Spurs fans but I think Kane needs some more experience on the bench.
