Scotland need to get another striker on the pitch but there are two midfielders warming up; Barry Bannan and James McArthur.

    England 2-0 Scotland

For a team who don't want to cross the ball, England are very good when they do! Again, Kyle Walker delivers a teasing ball, Wayne Rooney heads it to the far post and a defender has to stretch to hook it away.

VanBurenBoysFP: Many say West Ham won England the World Cup back in 1966, Liverpool to do the same in 2018?

Paul Thompson: How is this 2-0 to England?!! Scotland could be 4 up! Football eh?

Chris in Rugby: even though england lead there is nothing about this side that gives me any confidence whatsoever.

  4. 'Not clicking'published at 21:00 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2016

I would be very surprised if Scotland do not score tonight. England are wide open down the left and Scotland are making good inroads.

That is what they have to do. They are 2-0 down so they might as well go for it.

England are still not finding a way to play under Southgate. They are not clicking, not playing fluently. It is not going well but they are winning games and that is all that matters for Gareth.

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 57 mins

    England 2-0 Scotland

And that's now a booking for Gary Cahill. Ponderous and leaden-footed in possession, Craig Forrest takes it from him and Cahill has to take him down.

He will miss the next qualifier. Leigh Griffiths whistles a shot over the top.

  6. YELLOW CARDpublished at 57 mins

    England 2-0 Scotland

The first booking of the game as Leigh Griffiths dives into a rather desperate challenge on Danny Rose and takes him out at the ankles. No arguments.

  7. 'Long way back'published at 20:58 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2016

    England 2-0 Scotland

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

Lee Wallace is involved in both of those great chances for Scotland but he's caught out for the goal, not picking up Lallana for that header. It's a long, long way back now.

That's the only time you'll ever see Adam Lallana and Gazza in the same sentence...

  9. 'For Gascoigne, read Lallana'published at 20:58 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2016

    England 2-0 Scotland

Remember when Gary McAllister missed the penalty kick?

Just the same, Snodgrass had to put that away. This time for Paul Gascoigne, read Adam Lallana.

Pat is of course referring to Paul Gascoigne's famous goal in Euro 96 which followed Gary McAllister's penalty miss.

Adam Lallana clinically highlighting the difference between the teams. England haven't particularly been better than Scotland, but they are so much deadlier.

Scotland still playing some good stuff, they look like scoring all the time as this time James Morrison gallops into the penalty area and hits a shot straight at Joe Hart.

  12. Postpublished at 52 mins

    England 2-0 Scotland

A harsh lesson in the importance of taking your chances. England looked all over the place for a few minutes there but one good move ends up with Adam Lallana sinking a header into the far corner.

Strachan is distraught. It was good play by England.

Complete counter-attack from England and a sucker punch for Scotland.

GOAL - England 2-0 Scotlandpublished at 50 mins

    Adam Lallana

A penny for Gordon Strachan's thoughts. His side have started the second half much brighter, should have equalised, and now trail by two.

Again it's a very good header as Danny Rose this time cuts back a ball to the penalty spot, Wayne Rooney runs under it but Adam Lallana is there to head down and into the corner.

Gareth Southgate takes to one knee and gives a furious fist pump. Strachan covers his head with his notepad...

It's Scotland's best move of the match. Probably the best move of the match. How many more of these chances will we get?

Scotland have had two or three good chances but by a distance that is the best.

Forrest has to get it on target. Hart is not getting that.

  18. CLOSE!published at 48 mins

    England 1-0 Scotland

Ah, he should score! Lee Wallace cuts back a good cross from the left, Leigh Griffiths cleverly runs over the ball and it falls at the feet of James Forrest.

He chops onto his left foot, 15 yards out, and he slices it well wide!

That's a very good opening indeed...
