I would be very surprised if Scotland do not score tonight. England are wide open down the left and Scotland are making good inroads.

That is what they have to do. They are 2-0 down so they might as well go for it.

England are still not finding a way to play under Southgate. They are not clicking, not playing fluently. It is not going well but they are winning games and that is all that matters for Gareth.

And that's now a booking for Gary Cahill. Ponderous and leaden-footed in possession, Craig Forrest takes it from him and Cahill has to take him down.

He will miss the next qualifier. Leigh Griffiths whistles a shot over the top.

Lee Wallace is involved in both of those great chances for Scotland but he's caught out for the goal, not picking up Lallana for that header. It's a long, long way back now.

Scotland still playing some good stuff, they look like scoring all the time as this time James Morrison gallops into the penalty area and hits a shot straight at Joe Hart. 

A harsh lesson in the importance of taking your chances. England looked all over the place for a few minutes there but one good move ends up with Adam Lallana sinking a header into the far corner.

Scotland have had two or three good chances but by a distance that is the best. 

Forrest has to get it on target. Hart is not getting that.

Ah, he should score! Lee Wallace cuts back a good cross from the left, Leigh Griffiths cleverly runs over the ball and it falls at the feet of James Forrest.

He chops onto his left foot, 15 yards out, and he slices it well wide!

That's a very good opening indeed...
