Here's a question, which way does a throw-in go if the ball deflects off the referee and out of play? That's what has just happened now as a Real Madrid clearance hits the official and goes out. Initially, the throw-in is given Real Madrid's way but after some emphatic arm waving by Gus Poyet, the throw is given to the hosts.

Real Madrid are up for this. They are well in control and here they come on another attack. Some lovely football on the right ends with an Isco cross being sent to the far post. There, Cristiano Ronaldo is waiting, goal at his mercy, surely 2-0? Nope. He volleys over. The Real Betis crowd loved that miss.

Someone who will be very keen to orchestrate a Cristiano Ronaldo strop is Gus Poyet. The former Sunderland boss is the man standing in the Real Betis dugout. 

Poyet has been in charge of Betis since the summer and results so far have been mixed. He's overseen two wins, two draws and three defeats.

Atletico, meanwhile, power back to the top of the table.

Granada have shut up shop, withdrawing all their players to their own half. They don't want this to get any worse.

Nico Gaitan fancies another as he connects sweetly with the ball to send a volley goalwards. Guillermo Ochoa needs two touches to take the sting out of it, but makes the save.

Atletico Madrid haven't given up on a fifth as a fine sweeping move almost opens up the Granada defence but Angel Correa's first-touch pass leaves Fernando Torres with too much to do.

Ponce has worked hard for Granada in a tough role and he looks shattered. His coach spots that and decides to give the forward a breather, replacing him with Artem Kravats for the final 17 minutes.

Well I never expected this scoreline after a tight first half but Atletico have shown their quality in this half, punishing Granada at crucial moments. Atletico will end this game top of the table, although it could be a short stay with Real Madrid in action in just under one hour.

Right. Goals done, time to catch up with the substitutions.

For Granada, David Barral and Uche Agbo are on for Bueno and Victorien Angban respectively while Fernando Torres replaces Antoine Griezmann for Atletico.
