    Real Betis 0-1 Real Madrid

Here's a question, which way does a throw-in go if the ball deflects off the referee and out of play? That's what has just happened now as a Real Madrid clearance hits the official and goes out. Initially, the throw-in is given Real Madrid's way but after some emphatic arm waving by Gus Poyet, the throw is given to the hosts.

    Real Betis 0-1 Real Madrid

Real Madrid are up for this. They are well in control and here they come on another attack. Some lovely football on the right ends with an Isco cross being sent to the far post. There, Cristiano Ronaldo is waiting, goal at his mercy, surely 2-0? Nope. He volleys over. The Real Betis crowd loved that miss.

    Raphael Varane

... no messing about by Real Madrid.

Toni Kroos fires the free-kick into the mixer and Raphael Varane's run and jump is left unchecked, allowing him to power a header home.

Right then. The players are out on the pitch and ready to go.

We've seen plenty of goals already today, will we see even more in this game? Hopefully not quite as many as Atletico Madrid bagged. I got hand cramp when they scored their final three.

Someone who will be very keen to orchestrate a Cristiano Ronaldo strop is Gus Poyet. The former Sunderland boss is the man standing in the Real Betis dugout.

Poyet has been in charge of Betis since the summer and results so far have been mixed. He's overseen two wins, two draws and three defeats.

What Real Madrid need is a fired up Cristiano Ronaldo, and they might just have that after the forward suffered the ultimate embarrassment (for him anyway) in training. He was nutmegged.

Yep, Danilo slipped the ball between Ronaldo's legs, Marcelo had a right old chuckle and Ronaldo had a bit of a strop., external

Real Betis v Real Madrid (19:45 BST)

Victory means Real Madrid need to win to move level on points with league leaders Atletico Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane's side are unbeaten in 21 games but despite that run all is not well. They've drawn their last four meaning this game is arguably a must win.

Real Betis XI: Adan, Piccini, Mandi, Pezzella, Durmisi, Petros, Martin, Brasanac, Joaquin, Castro, Alegria.

Real Madrid XI: Keylor Navas,  Carvajal, Pepe, Varane, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kroos, Benzema, Bale, Marcelo, Kovacic, Isco.

The referee's whistle goes to put Granada out of their misery.

Atletico, meanwhile, power back to the top of the table.

    Over to you, Real Madrid.

    Tiago

Well this is just getting ridiculous.

Granada have just absolutely fallen apart in the last few minutes and every Atletico attack has resulted in a goal. This time, Yannick Carrasco bulldozes his way into the area, tired defenders desperately throwing in legs to try and stop him. They can't, though, and Carrasco squeezes the ball across to Tiago to finish from close range.

    Angel Correa

Wow. When Atletico Madrid are on it. They are on it.

It's goal number six and it's a lovely one as some neat one touch passing ends with Angel Correa running to the edge of the area where he strokes home beyond Guillermo Ochoa's reach.

Hard to believe there was only one goal in this game with an hour gone...

    Nico Gaitan

Atletico Madrid are not done yet as they bag a fifth. Yannick Carrasco runs at tired legs before feeding the ball to Nico Gaitan who sweeps home at the near post for his second of the night.

    Atletico Madrid 4-1 Granada

Granada have shut up shop, withdrawing all their players to their own half. They don't want this to get any worse.

Nico Gaitan fancies another as he connects sweetly with the ball to send a volley goalwards. Guillermo Ochoa needs two touches to take the sting out of it, but makes the save.

    Atletico Madrid 4-1 Granada

Atletico Madrid haven't given up on a fifth as a fine sweeping move almost opens up the Granada defence but Angel Correa's first-touch pass leaves Fernando Torres with too much to do.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 73 mins

    Atletico Madrid 4-1 Granada

Ponce has worked hard for Granada in a tough role and he looks shattered. His coach spots that and decides to give the forward a breather, replacing him with Artem Kravats for the final 17 minutes.

    Atletico Madrid 4-1 Granada

Well I never expected this scoreline after a tight first half but Atletico have shown their quality in this half, punishing Granada at crucial moments. Atletico will end this game top of the table, although it could be a short stay with Real Madrid in action in just under one hour.

  20. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 67 mins

    Atletico Madrid 4-1 Granada

Right. Goals done, time to catch up with the substitutions.

For Granada, David Barral and Uche Agbo are on for Bueno and Victorien Angban respectively while Fernando Torres replaces Antoine Griezmann for Atletico.
