Chelsea should be out of sight for their second half dominance.

Crystal Palace have not been anywhere near creative enough to get back into the game.

Pards steps out of his area in order to chat to ref Jon Moss. He's told to get back in the area.

He looks frustrated, perturbed and related synonyms. Palace are heading for a eighth loss in 11.

Craig Andrew Smith: You have to admire the high up the field defending Chelsea do. Their midfield provide excellent cover for their defenders.

That was a brilliant effort from Alonso.

He hit it with whip and got it up and over the wall.

Cahill was just out muscled following it in.

Marcos Alonso has got his shooting boots on today - which shop sells those? - as he curls his free-kick over the wall and is denied by the bar.

Gary Cahill tries to follow up but he falls under a challenge. Was that a foul?

Jon Moss rushes over to give Damien Delaney a yellow for a foul on Eden Hazard about 25 yards from goal.

But was it a deserved yellow?

    Yes.

    Free-kick.

That corner results in nothing of significance.

There are 10 minutes + stoppage left.

    Chelsea have a corner.

Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic comes on for Victor Moses.

Palace's Fraizer Campbell comes on for bleach-blonde Yohan Cabaye.

The corner is claimed by Wayne Hennessey, but the Blues win another corner after Damien Delaney blocks Diego Costa's shot.

Hennessey was at fault for the first goal but he is keeping Palace in the game.

Good save from the Alonso shot.

    Finally.

Andros Townsend, who almost came on earlier, comes on for Jason Puncheon.

Cut in and strike from Andros?

Chelsea's Marcos Alonso fancies it today.

The former Fiorentina player thunders one - again on the angle - which Wayne Hennessey has to punch away.

    Sixteen + stoppage to go.

Good one-handed save by Wayne Hennessey.

Victor Moses performs a pirouette to get away from Jason Puncheon in the area and then pulls the ball back for N'Golo Kante, whose first time sidefoot effort - they love a sidefoot do Chelsea - is saved low by Hennessey.

Chelsea weathered the storm early in second half from Crystal Palace and are now turning the screw a little, getting decent possession and look threatening again.

He should have done better with that.

Eden Hazard surges into the area and cuts the ball back for Cesc Fabregas. He fails to put enough on his first-time sidefoot effort from just inside the area. Wayne Hennessey easily collects.

Moments later, Christian Benteke chest and swivels but the ball trundles into the arms of Thibaut Courtois.

    The tempo is rising.

    THAT is an angled volley.

The ball is played from the right and eventually arrives at the feet of Marcos Alonso at the back sticks. He hits one first time but it kisses the side-netting.

It looked as if Andros Townsend was about to come on, but I think he's sat back down.

Cesc Fabregas, who has been on for seconds, gets to the byeline and smacks a pull-back for Marcos Alonso.

The fellow Spaniard is caught unawares and in the end looks like someone attempting to get out of the way in a game of Dodgeball.

Wing-back/midfielder/wing-back Victor Moses swivels in the area but his shot is blocked at close quarters.

Meanwhile, Cesc Fabregas comes off for Willian.

  20. YELLOW CARDpublished at 62 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Chelsea

    Free-kick and yellow.

N'Golo Kante goes in the book for persistent fouling and, like Diego Costa, will be suspended for the game against Bournemouth.

Palace's free-kick is headed out for a corner. The corner itself comes to nothing.

The home side still have possession though. More promising for Pards' boys.
