Paul Lambert's first game in charge was a stalemate at Preston, checking the Lillywhites' free-scoring attack and picking up a crucial point in the process. However, Lambert's side are now without a win in eight games.

    The Wolves boss told reporters:

"I'm happy but I felt we played well, we gave as good as we got. there are lots of plusses and I was delighted with them.

"We've got a threat going forward but we had to be stronger than the team has shown in the past few months.

"It's important to get lads in who have played in this league before, the foreign lads have done well but they needed a bit of help.

"We had to be strong, before the defence was wide open and we couldn't defend like that. Conceding goals put a hell of a lot of pressure on strikers."

    Ipswich 0-1 Nottingham Forest

That's a bit more like it from Ipswich.

Josh Emmanuel wins the hosts a corner with some nice work down the right-hand side.

When the corner is cleared however, Pajtim Kasami is given acres of space to roam down the opposite wing, and Mick McCarthy's side are left having to defend a corner themselves. It's too easy for Forest going forward right now.

    Ipswich 0-1 Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest haven't won a league game at Portman Road since March 2013 - they've started in tremendous fashion here today.

Britt Assombalonga nearly gets the chance to double his personal tally, but Pajtim Kasami's cross is inches too high for the striker.

Ipswich were carved open far too easily down their left-hand flank.

  4. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Ipswich 0-1 Nottingham Forest

That was the quickest goal in the Championship this season, Forest taking just 17 seconds to go one goal to the good.

Ipswich have scored only 14 goals this season remember - they'll need at least a couple in the next 85 minutes or so to have any chance of winning here.

    Ipswich 0-1 Nottingham Forest

    That didn't take long!

Ipswich fall asleep at the back, and Ben Osborn slides a perfect pass through to Britt Assombalonga, who slots the ball low into the back of the net with his left foot.

    The home fans are stunned.

  6. And they're off...published at 1 min

    Ipswich 0-0 Nottingham Forest

A moment of reflection from fans and players while The Last Post is played is perfectly observed by all, before Ipswich get the game under way.

The Tractor Boys are playing a fairly standard 4-4-2 formation, Freddie Sears partnering former Forest striker David McGoldrick up front, while the visitors are lined up in a 3-5-2, with Daniel Pinillos making his first appearance since December 2015 on the left wing.

Goals have not come easily for either of these two teams this season, with Nottingham Forest scoring a mere seven times on the road, and Ipswich having found the back of the net just 14 times home and away.

It's not much encouragement to stick around I'll admit, but there is good news for fans of attacking football, as six of Ipswich's goals have come in their last four games, while Forest have scored at least once in seven of their past eight contests.

Perhaps a goalfest is not out of the question after all.

It's been a tough start to the season for Ipswich, but just one defeat from their past five games suggests Mick McCarthy might have got the Tractor Boys back on track.

Still, they'll need to improve in front of their own fans if they're to keep climbing the table, as they've won only one of their past five matches at Portman Road.

The form guide suggests they couldn't have a better opponent this evening, as 20th-placed Nottingham Forest have yet to win in eight away league games this season, losing six times.

Newport picked up just their fourth league win of the season and they did it in style, beating Notts County 3-0 at Meadow Lane to climb out of the League Two relegation zone.

Exeter had looked to be on track to escape the bottom two, but Charlie Wyke scored a 98th minute winner for Carlisle to hand the hosts a 3-2 win, despite playing the last minute with only 10 men after Jamie Devitt was shown a red card.

Keith Curle's side are now only four points behind leaders Plymouth, who suffered a shock 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Grimsby, who are now up into sixth in the table.

Chesterfield and Bury both fell to their eighth successive defeats in League One, the Spireites beaten 2-1 by Fleetwood, and the Shakers hammered 5-1 by Wimbledon.

The top two sides both picked up three points, with Scunthorpe and Sheffield United narrowly beating Oldham and Shrewsbury respectively, while Bolton went third with a 2-0 win over Millwall.

The Trotters leapfrog Bradford, who had a miserable afternoon, losing 3-0 at Southend.

    Preston 0-0 Wolves

Talking of goalless draws, Paul Lambert's Wolves reign begins with a point at Preston, although their winless league run now stretches to eight games.

It was by no means a classic, it took a long while for chances to really fall to either side, and even when they did neither side had the ruthlessness to break the deadlock.

Preston stay mid-table, with just one defeat in nine.

Nope, there isn't enough time for a winner in Yorkshire. It finishes goalless. And that's the early Championship games done and dusted.

Ipswich against Nottingham Forest is coming up in about 25 minutes.

    Barnsley 0-0 Wigan

The full-time whistles have gone at eight of the Championship games, but they're a few minutes behind at Oakwell after floodlight problems caused a delay at the start of the second half.

    Into stoppage time.

  16. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:58 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November 2016

    QPR 2-1 Norwich

Big handshakes and hugs on the QPR bench as Ian Holloway's 'Ollie 2.0' Rangers kick off his second spell with a win.

Cheers from the fans for Holloway and fellow Rangers hero Marc Bircham on the touchline, with goals from Conor Washington and Seb Polter enough to snatch the win.

Norwich, who went down to 10 men after two minutes with Martin Olsson seeing red, responded late on with a strike from Steven Naismith but that was not enough to stop the Canaries slumping to a fourth consecutive league defeat.

Happy times for the Hoops though.

    Birmingham City 1-0 Bristol City

Che Adams' goal from the bench is enough to propel Birmingham into the Championship top six at the expense of fellow chasers Bristol City.

Both sides had numerous chances but only Adams was able to break the deadlock in the second half.

The Robins without a league win in three now, but still in the mix.
