    Sheffield United have extended their lead at the top of League One to three points with a 3-1 win at Bury.

    Second-placed Bolton were held 2-2 at strugglers Coventry, but third-placed Scunthorpe failed to take advantage as they were held 1-1 at home to Peterborough.

    Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe, who scored two penalties: "We worked hard and knew it was going to be difficult against a top team who would press us. We were compact and at times had to do two jobs.

    “The spirit today was brilliant and definitely the reaction the manager wanted after the Burnley game. To show that character, we’re happy with the point.”

    Brighton are the new Championship leaders as they come from a goal down to win 2-1 at Fulham.

    Newcastle lose 1-0 at Blackburn and drop to second.

    Norwich boss Alex Neil will live to fight another day as a Nelson Oliveira hat-trick gave them a first win in three at Derby's expense.

    And there were loads of late goals before the final whistles went around the country.

    QPR completed a comeback win against Ipswich, Pawel Wszolek with the winner to lift the Rs to 17th.

    Bristol City were leading 2-1 in the final five minutes against Reading - but were stunned by two Yann Kermorgant goals and have now lost six on the bounce.

    Nottingham Forest are now periliously close to the drop zone as Conor Houriane sealed a late 1-0 win for Barnsley. It's now one point from a possible 45 for Forest.

    West Ham make three changes to the side that lost to Leicester at the weekend. Out go captain Mark Noble, Andre Ayew and Andy Carroll, as Pedro Obiang, Manuel Lanzini and Sofiane Feghouli come in.

    Manchester United make five changes to the side that beat Middlesbrough. The centre-back partnership of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo is restored, while Matteo Darmian, Michael Carrick and Jesse Lingard also make the team. Out go Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Daley Blind, Marouane Fellaini and Anthony Martial.

    Fabio Borini concedes a free-kick just outside the Sunderland area. Another test for the home defence but they survive before Adam Lallana forces a save from outside the area. The Reds are throwing the kitchen sink at this.
