Can Burnley smell blood? They have not come to the Etihad to defend, as their average position graphic for the first half shows. Their furthest forward player - Andre Gray - is more advanced than any Manchester City attacker.

In the Championship, leaders Newcastle are being held to a goalless draw at struggling Blackburn but second-placed Brighton have not been able to take advantage so far, with the same scoreline at Fulham. The Seagulls haven't had a shot yet.

QPR, who beat Wolves in their last game after a run of six straight defeats, lead Ipswich 1-0.

In League One, Billy Sharp has pulled Sheffield United level at Bury, while Scunthorpe are ahead at against Peterborough, which means they are going top. In the shock of the day so far, struggling Coventry lead in-form Bolton.

    Sunderland 1-1 Liverpool

Is this the day Liverpool lose ground in the title race? The Reds have had 11 shots in the first half - five on target. Yet they are on level terms with a Sunderland team which has responded well after a 4-1 defeat by Burnley last time out.

West Brom will probably get in at half-time to a few words from Tony Pulis. The onus is then on West Brom to come out and get the equaliser.

Hull need to pick up three points, draws are no good for them now.

Don Uorri: Why is Pep getting so much grief? Don't hear people saying Mourinho should leave, yet he has PL experience and is doing worse than Pep.

Hikmat Dandaparajuli: Come on Sunderland , Hull City are winning today. You have to win this game!

Joshua Dagnall: Man City do love a suspension this season. Typical. When will they do things the easy way?

    West Brom 0-1 Hull City

This game has a good tempo, moments after Matt Phillips heads to force a save from David Marshall at one end, Hull go close at the other.

Adama Diomande is played in and with his leg poised to fire, Gareth McAuley makes a superb last-ditch tackle. In the fall out from the chance Tom Huddlestone fizzes a shot from 30 yards and Ben Foster stretches to palm it wide.

The story of the game so far, West Brom up against it and Hull being robust and creative.

  17. Danny's had a text...published at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2017

    Man City 0-0 Burnley

    Danny Mills
    Ex-England defender on Final Score

I don't think Pep has lost the dressing room, but I've just had a text from ex-referee Dermot Gallagher and he says it is definitely a red card for Fernandinho.

Why would you even think about diving in to that challenge? It's in the middle of the pitch, he's not saving a goal. It's a rash challenge.

He's given the referee the opportunity to send him off, and that's the biggest mistake that he's made.

Jay Rodriguez skips past a couple of challenges to get into the area before lashing over for Southampton. Kevin Mirallas then does something similar at the other end of the pitch. Lively finish to the half.

    West Brom 0-1 Hull

It's been a long time coming but West Brom have just had their first effort on target - a tame header by Salomon Rondon.

The Baggies could climb to seventh with a victory but they have yet to turn up for this one. Hull are very much in command.

How long before we see Sergio Aguero thrown on? Might not be long as he heads off to warm up, drawing cheers from the crowd as he does so.

After a decent start, City don't look like scoring at the moment.
