It's almost three! This time, Son Heung-min pokes Christian Eriksen's free-kick just wide.

Half-time can't come soon enough for Watford.

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Blackburn striker on BBC Radio 5 live

It was brilliant. The quality of the ball from Trippier and the pace he generated made it. It was instinctive from Harry Kane and he wasn't going to miss from there.

Spurs have given Watford a conundrum now. They have it all to do and they need to have a change of mentality, but you feel Tottenham will exploit any gaps they leave.

    Watford 0-2 Tottenham

Harry Kane isn't just scoring goals in this game, he is preventing them at the other end as well. He's back to mark Troy Deeney for a Watford free-kick and hooks a clearance against the Hornets striker right infront of goal.

Spurs are turning on the style.

What a cross it is from Trippier, whipping it in with terrific speed, and then I can't tell you how hard that finish is.

Kane really had to crash that in, a wonderful goal. Spurs are in total control.

The Kieran Trippier-Harry Kane connection does the business again as Tottenham extend their lead with a brilliant second.

This time, Trippier bends a cross behind the Watford defence and Kane volleys home.

It could get very messy for Watford.

Watford are having to withstand some heavy pressure now as Tottenham hunt for a quick second. Sebastian Prodl just manages to hook the ball away from Harry Kane's chest as the striker tries to break clear of the defence.

A real lapse in concentration from Watford defensively, Holebas had no idea that Harry Kane was there.

It's a lovely, accurate finish from Kane, and a deserved lead for Spurs.

It was only a matter of time.

Moments after Dele Alli smacks an effort against the crossbar, Tottenham take the lead as Kieran Trippier superbly slips in Harry Kane and the striker marks his 100th Premier League appearance with a goal, beating Heurelho Gomes at his near post.

We reach 25 minutes and Watford are yet to get on the ball in the Tottenham area (left). Spurs certainly the side forcing the issue a little more.

That was Spurs' best move so far - lovely play.

Alli was really unselfish, but Trippier's ball should have been better to pick out Harry Kane. Rose was just leaning back, but that's much better from Spurs.

Eric Dier gets in-between two defenders to meet a cross, he is just outside the six-yard box but opts to knock the ball down for Harry Kane rather than have a go at goal. Wrong option as Watford clear.

Decent chance for Tottenham as Danny Rose gets the ball from Christian Eriksen on the edge of the area and has space to shoot but he lashes high over the bar. Rose should have done better and he knows it, hiding his face in his shirt.

Well, it's been a fairly forgettable start to 2017 on the pitch so far. Certainly not a game that is easy on the eye. Watford opportunities have been very limited, although there's a brief moment of excitement for the home fans as Troy Deeney heads on a cross, but it's just out of Odion Ighalo's reach.

  17. The story so farpublished at 18 mins

    Watford 0-0 Tottenham

A fairly even start in terms of territory, with Spurs seeing 60% of the ball.

In the opening 18 minutes, Watford are yet to touch the ball in Tottenham's area and Troy Deeney is peripheral, although he has now had two touches of the ball.

He's not been great so far, Jack. Only two players have failed to touch the ball so far in this game - Hugo Lloris and Troy Deeney.

Watford can't keep the ball at the moment. Every forward pass has been completely devoid of quality.

The front three are being given absolutely nothing to work with.
