Nick: Hold on hold on hold on, no European football to speak of, longer time spent on the training field. Can't put this lot up there with the greats just yet. If they win the league and perform like this again next year with the Champions League thrown at them, then we can smell a winning team.

Steve: United treble winners will always be the best.

Al Marcuccilli: Don't get carried away Chelsea fans even if you win next two. No champs league, early EFL exit has contributed to this run.

    • Cesc Fabregas registered his 100th Premier League assist last time out against Stoke - the fourth player to achieve this feat (Ryan Giggs - 162, Frank Lampard - 102, Wayne Rooney - 101).
    • Fabregas was the quickest player to reach 100 Premier League assists, however (293 apps).
    • He's been benched.

Despite what I said earlier, it looks like Spurs are indeed playing three at the back to match up with Chelsea tonight. Interesting.

Jay: Currently, Chelsea aren't even better than Leicester of last season. If they can carry on and win the title, different story.

Jonathan Nthani: Stats don't lie. If Chelsea get No. 14 tonight, Mourinho and Carlo wont have reason to argue. Most solid, co-ordinated CFC team.

Jon Hind: Chelsea are one of the best sides since football was invented in 1992

Presenter Mark Chapman has been bringing you the build up from 19:00 GMT, and wants to know how many of the current Chelsea team you think would get into the record-breaking Arsenal side that won 14 games on the trot at the back end of the 2001-02/start of 2002-03 seasons.

You can then catch all the reaction on the 5 live Football Social from 22:00 GMT.

Preston North End - Second Division - 1950-51

When: Preston started their winning run on Christmas Day 1950 and went on until 27 March 1951.

Ended by: A 3-3 draw at Southampton on 31 March 1951.

Champions: Preston finished top of the table to be promoted to the First Division, then the top flight of English football.

    Manchester United - Second Division - 1904-05

When: A year before Bristol City matched them, Manchester United won 14 consecutive games between 15 October 1904 and 3 January 1905.

Ended by: A 1-1 draw at Bristol City on 7 January 1905.

Champions: Remarkably, United finished third and missed out on promotion to the First Division after falling behind Bolton and eventual champions Liverpool. They would be promoted in second behind Bristol City the following season.

Every side to have reached 14 straight league wins has seen the streak end with an away draw in the following game.

Chelsea could be going for their 15th win away at Leicester on 14 January - will it be the reigning champions who finally defy this year's favourites?

Charlie: Quality isnt even in the equation. None of this who's better nonsense, every team has been good for their aim. Arsenal had flair and penetration. Chelsea have a willpower and believe they can beat the record and extend it. Tonight will be tough. 3-1 Spurs.

Will: I wouldn't rank this Chelsea team up there with their title winning sides of 04 and 05 just yet. I think you need to wait until the end of the season for that.

Wilf May: Manchester United have been through the best, but they haven't got a 13 win streak. If Chelsea win two more games and get the title there would be no doubt that Chelsea is one of the greatest teams to step out into the field.

Nobody has won more consecutive games in a Premier League season than Antonio Conte's Chelsea.

Thirteen in a row. More than a third of a season.

But how good is this team?

    Man CityImage source, Getty Images
    Image caption,

    Better than Chelsea?

Better than the three Chelsea teams who won the title under Jose Mourinho? Or would - at the very least - Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and John Terry have something to say about that?

Better than the Arsenal Invincibles? How about Manchester City? Or any of Manchester United's title winners?

Are they even the best team in the league this season?

  18. Too many miles on the clockpublished at 18:37 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2017

    Tottenham v Chelsea (20:00 GMT)

Much has been made of the fixture congestion at this time of year, and Chelsea have certainly come out of it well.

They have had 223 hours between their three festive fixtures - the most of any Premier League side - and after two home games they have only had to travel across London.

I make it a round trip of 39.2 miles.

Tottenham will have played their games in 170 hours and trips to Southampton and Watford have put 219.2 miles on the team bus.

  19. How things have changedpublished at 18:34 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2017

    Tottenham v Chelsea (20:00 GMT)

When Chelsea were dismantled in their last defeat of the season at Arsenal, a section of our match report was headlined 'Chelsea look broken'.

They did too. Few could have seen this run of form coming.

As Phil McNulty said at the time: "Chelsea still rely so heavily on 35-year-old captain John Terry, out injured here, while elements of the side that looked so strong winning the title the season before last are crumbling.

"Branislav Ivanovic had a miserable game but it was even worse for England defender Gary Cahill, who was responsible for Alexis Sanchez's opener and also involved in an arm-waving spat with Thibaut Courtois after a breakdown in communication in the second half

"N'Golo Kante does not have the energy and support he had in midfield at Leicester City, with Nemanja Matic laboured and Cesc Fabregas off the pace and substituted. The hero of last season's title win was left trailing in Mesut Ozil's wake for Arsenal's third."

    Eden HazardImage source, Reuters
    Image caption,

If Hazard had regressed it's safe to say he has now progressed again

"Eden Hazard has regressed again while Diego Costa's only serious contribution was to conduct another war against the world.

"In other words, Antonio Conte has a large job on his hands."

  20. 'Rarity value'published at 18:31 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2017

    Tottenham v Chelsea (20:00 GMT)

    John Murray
    5 live Sport reporter

Talk about rarity value - we might witness something here that no team has been able to achieve in any one top-flight season since this league was first played in 1888.

And if they manage it, Chelsea will become only the fifth team to win 14 consecutive league matches at any time, in any of the divisions.

Tottenham are already one of the victims of this Chelsea winning streak, having lost at Stamford Bridge in November.

But they will have other ideas this time round, and with good reason too, after running into a rich vein of form of their own with four successive wins.
