Well, that brings an end to our coverage of today's Championship action.

It was quite the ride, with Norwich and Fulham both hitting five goals, Brighton missing the chance to go top, Leeds winning against Aston Villa... And then the shenanigans at Hillsborough, of course.

I'll be back on Friday for Leeds' trip to Brighton, when the Seagulls will, for a second time, be looking to go top of the table and the Whites will be aiming for a sixth win in seven.

    Until then, goodbye.

  2. The day's biggest talking point...published at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    FT: Sheff Wed 2-1 Preston

Preston North End had strikers Jermaine Beckford and Eoin Doyle sent off for fighting one another during their 2-1 defeat by Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

And so the final word of the day should probably belong to their manager Simon Grayson, who wasn't a happy bunny...

  3. 'As badly as we have started for a while'published at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    FT: Burton Albion 2-1 Rotherham

Burton Albion moved up to 19th in the Championship by beating Rotherham at the Pirelli Stadium.

Burton manager Nigel Clough: "It was hard going at times, they were very spirited and put us on the back foot. That was as badly as we have started for a while.

"It was important to get the goal (after 15 minutes) and wear them down and break their spirit. I am disappointed we conceded but it doesn't detract from the three points."

  4. 'A valuable point well earned'published at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    FT: Blackburn 1-1 Huddersfield

    Owen CoyleImage source, Rex Features

Struggling Blackburn came from behind to draw with play-off contenders Huddersfield.

Blackburn manager Owen Coyle: "It was a different type of performance from what we've had as of late.

"In terms of the best goalscoring chances they probably came from ourselves. I think it is a valuable point and one that was well earned."

  5. 'We have to make sure it doesn't happen again'published at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    FT: Norwich 5-0 Brentford

Brentford suffer their fourth loss in a row after being comprehensively beaten at Norwich.

Brentford boss Dean Smith: "I've told the players it's the worst performance I've had as a manager. The players have to look in the mirror. I'll look in the mirror as well.

"But after the third goal I thought a few of us gave up. We have to make sure it doesn't happen again."

  6. 'If you're not switched on you make it easier for the opposition'published at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    FT: Fulham 5-0 Reading

    Jaap StamImage source, Rex Features

Chris Gunter scored an own goal as 10-man Reading were thrashed at Fulham.

Reading boss Jaap Stam: "We knew they were going to be very aggressive and we were prepared.

"But if you’re not switched on, not sharp enough when you have the ball, in your one-on-ones defensively and communication-wise, you make it easier for the opposition."

  7. 'We were on top when a flying bomb hit the top corner'published at 19:51 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

FT: Bristol City 2-0 Ipswich Town

Mick McCarthy (right)Image source, Rex Features

Ipswich drop to 16th in the Championship after losing 2-0 at Bristol City.

Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy: "The difference between teams was a penalty and a worldie. They started well, but we got to grips to that.

"It was a penalty. Tammy Abraham reacted quicker than any of our players to the situation

"We were then on top when an unbelievable flying bomb hit the top corner of our net for the second goal. It was absolutely unstoppable."

  8. 'The last 10 to 15 minutes were always going to be nervy'published at 19:47 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    FT: Wigan 0-1 Derby

Alex Pearce (left)Image source, Rex Features

Derby secured a fifth straight victory as Steve McClaren's side beat struggling Wigan at the DW Stadium.

Derby boss Steve McClaren: "We had a great start and for some reason we kind of took our foot off the pedal when we needed to go up.

"We knew this would be a difficult place to come and, when we didn't manage to get the second goal, the last 10 to 15 minutes were always going to be a bit nervy."

  9. More EFL reaction to come...published at 19:43 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

Before we wrap up our live text coverage of the day's EFL action, we've still got some Championship manager reaction to run through just yet.

So please do stay with us for a wee bit longer as we reflect on anything you might've missed...

  10. 'We showed spirit'published at 19:41 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    FT: Leeds 2-0 Aston Villa

    Quote Message

I don't think we played at our best, but it's hard to be critical after a difficult week. I think we deserved the win and we showed great spirit and character. When the first goal came we started to play. We have a busy period coming up before Christmas and we will have to play better.

    FT: Leeds 2-0 Aston Villa

Victory over Villa moves Leeds up to fourth in the Championship table.

That is the Whites' highest league position since Italian Massimo Cellino bought the club.

His faith in Garry Monk is being rewarded.

Leeds are now seven points behind second-placed Brighton, who they face on Friday.

Here's how the top half looks after today's results:

This time Leeds do punish Villa and wrap up the victory.

Hadi Sacko is gifted the ball and bursts forward. He holds off Tommy Elphick in the box and Pierluigi Gollini can't save his shot.

The ball squrims towards the line and Chris Wood gets there before Elphick and slides the ball in.

That's Wood's 10th league goal of the season.

    Leeds fans are enjoying this.
