Aston Villa fans can't have been enjoying life in the Championship under Roberto di Matteo.

The Italian, who led Chelsea to the Champions League title in 2012, won just one of his 11 league games in charge of the Birmingham side.

It's been a completely different story under Steve Bruce.

The ex-Hull boss is yet to taste defeat in seven games since his appointment in mid-October and the Villans started the day four points off the play-offs.

Can Bruce retain his unbeaten record following a daunting trip to Elland Road?

  2. More on the red cards at Hillsboroughpublished at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    FT: Sheff Wed 2-1 Preston

Here's what BBC Radio Sheffield commentator Rob Staton saw of the incident between Preston forwards Eoin Doyle and Jermaine Beckford, who were, it seems, indeed sent off for fighting one another...

  4. Monk leads Leeds revivalpublished at 17:16 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

Leeds v Aston Villa (17:30 GMT)

    Garry MonkImage source, Rex Features

Our final Championship match of the weekend, which kicks off at 17:30 GMT, looks an absolute belter between two real heavyweights.

Leeds United boss Garry Monk came under pressure after a slow start to the season but owner Massimo Cellino has been rewarded for his faith in the Englishman.

Monk's Whites were fifth in the table at the start of the day, and have won four of their last five Championship games.

It's been a long -and at some times traumatic - 12 years since Leeds were in the Premier League but the Yorkshire giants could well sustain a promotion challenge this season.

The last time Leeds came close to returning to the top flight was when they reached the Championship play-off final in 2005-06, when they lost to Watford.

They host Aston Villa at Elland Road this evening - and all the team news is up next...

So that might well be it for our nine 15:00 GMT kick-offs in the EFL, but don't you dare move a muscle because there's still plenty more to come.

We'll be bringing you manager and player reaction from every Championship match - and we've got a little something else for you coming up in 20 minutes or so too...

  6. The League Two resultspublished at 17:09 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

Two contrasting matches in the fourth tier, although both were 3-0 at half-time.

Stevenage mounted a fine comeback attempt at home to now leaders Doncaster Rovers, but were eventually pipped 4-3.

But it was much, much more comfortable for Yeovil Town against Crawley Town, recording the EFL's third 5-0 result of the day.

  7. The Championship headlinespublished at 17:06 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    NorwichImage source, Rex Features
    • Norwich City end their five-game losing run with a comfortable 5-0 home thrashing of Brentford, easing the pressure on manager Alex Neil.
    • Fulham record arguably the result of the day, hammering Reading, who had won their last five in a row, by five goals at Craven Cottage.
    • Barnsley produce an eye-catching display to win 3-0 at Birmingham, who remain in the top six despite that defeat.
    • Derby County continue their good form under Steve McClaren by beating Wigan Athletic, while Burton Albion, Bristol City and Sheffield Wednesday also secure victories.
  8. Wednesday hold on - after two Preston red cardspublished at 17:02 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    FT: Sheff Wed 2-1 Preston

And Sheffield Wednesday do manage to hold on at home to Preston to make it back-to-back wins.

The Owls played the last 25 minutes with 10 men after Fernando Forestieri was sent off - and there was even more controversy in stoppage time.

North End team-mates Eoin Doyle and Jermaine Beckford were both shown red cards right at the very end for what reports suggest was an off-the-ball incident between the two strike partners.

More on that to follow, no doubt - but that is all the Championship's three o'clock games otherwise done and dusted.

  20. The latest in League Twopublished at 16:41 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016
