    Stoke 0-0 Southampton

He's been in the goals this season and Joe Allen is the man on the move again, bursting into the area to collect Xherdan Shaqiri's flick but his low shot is kicked clear by Fraser Forster. A bright start from the Potters.

    West Ham 0-0 Burnley

West Ham striker Andy Carroll latches onto a long ball and absolutely hoofs it over the bar. The Hammers are having plenty of chances against a Burnley team who rarely win away.

    Sunderland 0-0 Chelsea

Asim: Sunderland defending straight away, not a good strategy for relegation battlers.

Ben Green: Why is nobody mentioning the fact the Sunderland are playing with 7 (SEVEN!) defenders?! Cautious.

    Sunderland 0-0 Chelsea

Chelsea free-kick midway through the Sunderland half, the recalled Cesc Fabregas chips it deep into the penalty area but Jordan Pickford does well to come and claim it. This looks a tough assignment for Chelsea to break down Sunderland.

    Man City 0-0 Watford

Manchester City half-clear a cross to Etienne Capoue, who goes for the Hollywood finish but his 20-yard volley is well off target. A reminder that no Troy Deeney in the Hornets team (and no John Stones for City).

    Tottenham 0-0 Hull

Spurs see some early ball but their move down the left is squeezed out by the Hull backline.

  7. Postpublished at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man Utd

An early corner for Manchester United and Paul Pogba heads straight at Palace keeper Wayne Hennessey.

    West Ham 0-0 Burnley

Mark Noble puts the ball into the mixer for West Ham but it curls just wide with Michail Antonio's desperate lunge in vain. A man of Andy Carroll's height might have been long enough to turn that home.

    West Ham 0-0 Burnley

Burnley very much pinned back by West Ham in the opening 15 minutes, as the average positions show below.

    Sunderland 0-0 Chelsea

Chelsea look to be missing Eden Hazard as much as you would imagine. Pedro tries his best to whip in a cross but it's easily dealt with by the massed ranks of Sunderland defenders.

Has there ever been a more ridiculous midweek fixture list in Premier League history? Every single game involves all fans travelling the length of the country. I'm raging.

It's all West Ham so far as Manuel Lanzini smashes a shot over from 20 yards. That's their third effort in the opening eight minutes.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Liverpool

Kartik Venkat: Maybe Karius is just being rotated for a midweek game and will be back for the weekend game?

Adam Wheeler: The Karius Debate. Sounds like a spy novel by Len Deighton or John Le Carre.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Liverpool

Adam Lallana picks the ball up on the right wing and dances inside on to his left foot and hits a decent effort, but Calum Chambers moves across to wear the block firmly on his forehead. Solid defending.

    West Ham 0-0 Burnley

Oof. West Ham maestro Dimitri Payet chests the ball down about 30 yards out and hits it on the bounce, but it's straight at Tom Heaton. That's one of those which could have flown in top corner, or gone out for a throw-in.

  19. CLOSE!published at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

    Sunderland 0-0 Chelsea

First close call at the Stadium of Light and it comes for the home side, Billy Jones gallops down the right and hits a rising, miscued cross that almost turns into a shot and flies narrowly past the top corner.

John O'Shea and Diego Costa lock horns again.
