  1. 'This game might have been Spurs' choice'published at 19:05 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

    Spurs v Hull (20:00 GMT)

    Steve Bower
    Match of the Day commentator

After just a second defeat of the season at Old Trafford, this might have been Spurs' choice of fixture to get back to winning ways.

Six draws so far have been a frustration, as have the defeats by Chelsea and Manchester United.

While Spurs have struggled to unlock the defence of their rivals for the Champions League places recently, they will be looking forward to facing a Hull defence that have shipped 16 goals in losing five consecutive away games.

Mike Phelan's team know it will ultimately be their home form that will determine their top-flight future and will see any kind of result as a welcome bonus.

  2. Rooney goes for the record againpublished at 19:03 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

Crystal Palace v Man Utd (20:00 GMT)

Wayne Rooney, who starts today, needs one more goal to equal Bobby Charlton's Manchester United scoring record.

That has also been true for the past three weeks, since his strike in the 4-0 Europa League win over Feyenoord.

He hasn't scored in his three appearances since then, as well as being banned for a game and an unused substitute for the other.

But a goal tonight against a porous Crystal Palace, and he levels Charlton's 249. Two goals and he becomes the first person to ever score 250 goals for the Red Devils.

United, meanwhile, have arrived at Selhurst Park now, according to journalists at the game.

  4. 'West Brom are oozing confidence'published at 19:02 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

West Brom v Swansea (20:00 GMT)

    Martin Fisher
    Match of the Day commentator

Consecutive home wins over fellow strugglers have breathed new belief into Bob Bradley's side but, unless they can start picking up regular points on the road, Swansea are unlikely to climb clear of the relegation zone anytime soon.

Thrashed 5-0 at Tottenham the last time they ventured out of Wales, they face a West Brom side oozing confidence in front of their own supporters having put seven goals past Burnley and Watford at The Hawthorns in recent weeks.

This newly discovered attacking prowess, allied to the traditional defensive strengths of any Tony Pulis side, makes Albion a real threat, meaning even a point for Swansea would represent a fabulous result.

Vieira151: Mignolet needs to come in and prove that the faith Klopp gave Karius was misplaced. Hoping for a strong showing.

David Price: Both couldn't save a date let alone a half-decent shot.. The four in front of the goalie have been an issue as well.

Lewis: Mignolet has it in him, hopefully he takes his chance back in the first team

  9. 'This is the sort of game Sunderland win'published at 18:59 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

    Sunderland v Chelsea (19:45 GMT)

    Guy Mowbray
    Match of the Day commentator

It might be bottom versus top, but this is the sort of game Sunderland win.

No, I've not been at the sherry prematurely, I've just seen them do it before.

From Chelsea themselves losing 4-1 in December 1999, through a 2-1 win over Liverpool in an awful season in 2002, to a 1-0 Boxing Day win against Manchester City in 2012 - the big guns have more than occasionally come a cropper at the Stadium of Light around this time of year.

For it to happen, everything would have to be right for them. Defoe, Pickford, the alignment of the moon and stars....and Chelsea's would have to have one almighty off-night.

    Sunderland v Chelsea (19:45 GMT)

Sunderland boss David Moyes makes four changes for the visit of Chelsea. John O’Shea, Jan Kirchhoff, Adnan Januzaj and Fabio Borini all come in. Steven Pienaar and Victor Anichebe have not been included in the squad.

Sunderland XI: Pickford, Jones, Kone, Djilobodji, O’Shea, van Aanholt, Denayer, Kirchhoff, Borini, Januzaj, Defoe. Subs: Mannone, Larsson, Khazri, Love, Asoro, Maja, Honeyman.

There's two changes for Chelsea as Willian replaces Eden Hazard, who picked up a knock against West Brom last time out. Nemanja Matic is replaced by Cesc Fabregas as Antonio Conte rotates his squad.

Chelsea XI: Courtois; Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Cahill; Moses, Kante, Fabregas, Alonso; Willian, Diego Costa, Pedro. Subs: Begovic, Ivanovic, Zouma, Chalobah, Matic, Loftus-Cheek, Batshuayi.

Middlesbrough make two changes from defeat at Southampton.

Manager Aitor Karanka explains Cristhian Stuani has a knock, Adama Traore comes in. Jordan Rhodes is ousted by Alvaro Negredo - Boro's joint top scorer with Stuani on three league goals.

Liverpool also make two changes from the 2-2 draw against West Ham. The much-hyped Loris Karius out for Simon Mignolet move is one. Ragnar Klavan in for Joel Matip is the other.

  12. 'Least goals v most goals'published at 18:57 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

    Middlesbrough v Liverpool (19:45 GMT)

    Jonathan Pearce
    Match of the Day commentator

The Premier League's lowest scorers against its highest. On paper it looks like an away win. Many pundits tip Boro for relegation because they can't score.

But any side that can draw at Arsenal, Manchester City and Leicester deserves respect. They'll make it just as tough for Liverpool, who'll need to be at their best.

Jurgen Klopp may have attacked critics of his defence but they've only kept one clean sheet in their eight league away games this season and under him have kept just four clean sheets in 23 Premier League away games, conceding 38 goals.

    That's cause for concern.

There are reports that Manchester United haven't arrived at Selhurst Park yet because of bad traffic.

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on dropping Loris Karius: "There was a lot of talk about this position in the last few weeks so there was no reason to push Loris through this situation, especially when you have a goalkeeper like Simon Mignolet who is training at an unbelievable level. That was the easy decision."

    Odd one this.

Chelsea midfielder Oscar says he is "90% certain" to move to Chinese Super League club Shanghai SIPG in January.

The fee for the 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder would be around £60m. He joined the Blues from Internacional for £25m in 2012.

Oscar started the first five league games under Antonio Conte but has only played four times since September.

"It just depends on a few bureaucratic details," Oscar told Sportv in his homeland., external
