That was a good opportunity. An excellent run from Rooney, he just hits his shot wide. A good effort, a good strike.

Chance! How close was that?! Wayne Rooney is onside and played through by a beauty from Paul Pogba, wide on the right of the area, it sits up nicely and he crashes a shot just wide. Clean connection, just wide of the target...

Hull have grown in confidence the longer the game has gone and they have looked quite comfortable in many ways. Only one or two times have they looked a bit stretched and out of sorts.

I'm sure Tom Huddlestone played in defence quite a bit when he was younger, and he's had a good game so far. He steps in to read a pass and cut it out at source.

Ricky Lee Everett: We've been awful in the final third; lacking cutting edge. United need to improve surely?

Andy White: Special one nil, the new new special one nil. Portugal bragging rights equal at half time.

The words Carrick and substitution come to mind.

    Craig

United desperately lacking a focal point up front in the absence of Ibrahimovic. Rashford has pace to burn but just too lightweight to play as a lone striker.

Four minutes injury-time completed in the first-half at Old Trafford - not that Jose Mourinho saw any of it.

Long before referee Kevin Friend had signalled the end of proceedings, Mourinho had high-tailed in down the touchline and into the tunnel.

Manchester United started quite brightly but didn't find that breakthrough that would have shattered Hull City's confidence. I am really impressed with Hull, a makeshift side and they have gone about themselves really well.

Well played Hull City. They haven't just parked the bus, they've been able to drive it up the pitch at times too.

Sensational run. He just burst through the midfield and in the end there was a really good challenge from Meyler. Credit to him, he didn't give up.

Paul Francis: Jose is smart. Knows the big game is Liverpool. Even a narrow defeat here is acceptable. Why do you think Zlatan is 'injured'?

What a run! Henrikh Mkhitaryan can really go when he wants to, up through the gears and away from the defence like a rugby union full-back. He sends in Marcus Rashford but he can't get a clean shot away.

Looking at Jose Mourinho that smile has gone that he was wearing about 25 minutes ago. He will be a little frustrated by what he has seen so far, the tempo has not been there and Hull will be heartened that they are still in this game.

Both managers are out on the sideline, hands in pockets. Jose Mourinho will think his side should have been clear in that opening barrage but Marco Silva must be delighted. A patched-up, makeshift team are doing him proud so far.
