Kasper Schmeichel is warming the ears of Christian Fuchs. The latter is guilty of letting a ball dangerously slip through, forcing Schmeichel to rush from his line and boot clear. The goalkeeper's face went red as he screamed.

That's a superb ball from Albrighton round the corner and Vardy fizzed it in unexpectedly in the corridor between the goalkeeper and the defenders, causing confusion so Courtois had to parry.

If only Leicester had more people in the box - when Vardy goes wide, it's just Musa and maybe one other, they need to get more bodies in there.

Jamie Vardy again, he looks hungry tonight as he takes Gary Cahill into the channel, stands him up and then delivers a low cross into the corridor of uncertainty... great save from Thibaut Courtois. He watches the ball carefully and pushes it away from danger. Davis Luiz dangled a leg at it, contact could have brought an OG.

A long ball forward gets Jamie Vardy interested and he's chasing Gary Cahill like a dog after a kite. Cahill knows, he can feel Vardy chomping on his toes, so he lashes the ball into the air untidily. David Luiz will tidy up and head for a throw in.

A nice stat from our friends at Opta: Leicester's pass accuracy (61.8%) is almost 20% lower than Chelsea's (81.3%).

If the home side remain so wayward, things will not end well.

  6. One-flank battlepublished at 32 mins

    Leicester 0-1 Chelsea

This fixture is so far Marc Albrighton v Marcos Alonso. The two are on the same flank, competing down the Leicester right/Chelsea left.

They have 32 touches each, that's more than anyone else out there.

  7. Postpublished at 31 mins

    Leicester 0-1 Chelsea

Chelsea build in the Leicester half, no pressure on the ball as the home side take up their stance - five in the back line, three in front centrally. Chelsea can probe but Nemanja Matic can't resist a dig and Wes Morgan gets in the way of it.

The shot is well wide but it's better from Leicester.

I like it when they rattle those passes around in midfield - they're good at it and should do it more.

    Leicester 0-1 Chelsea

Wilfred Ndidi receives the ball 30 yards out from a tee up from Jamie Vardy. You know he's thinking shot, no doubt about it... bang... over. It never threatened but this is a little more like it from Claudio Ranieri's side.

Danny Drinkwater in midfield... he's pressed by Pedro before he can fully turn. Good work by the Spaniard. It allows Chelsea to contain their hosts as the ball is forced back to Kasper Schmeichel. He boots long and possession turns over. Good defending by the away side.

If you are just joining us, Marcos Alonso drove Chelsea ahead early on but Leicester are edging back into things.

Antonio Conte's side are benefiting from fast starts this season. They have scored five goals in the opening 10 minutes of matches this term. No side has more.

N'Golo Kante leaves a bit on Nampalys Mendy in midfield. The Leicester midfielder rolls around clutching his shin.

I am reliably informed Mendy was Leicester's original target prior to signing Kante. All's well that ends well.

Leicester win a free-kick deep in Chelsea territory, Marc Albrighton to deliver... Nemanja Matic gets a leg on the ball and Gary Cahill wants no such risks, heading behind for a corner.

On the replay, there was minimal contact but it's a hell of a lunge and a foul from Chilwell.

He's lucky there was no contact or it's a yellow card straight away.

Victor Moses is fuming and rightly so. He's hacked down by Ben Chilwell but Andre Marriner says no. Terrible decision. The clearest foul you will see.

That's more like it for Leicester and a more traditional area for Albrighton to be delivering it from.

What a ball it is too - Chilwell climbs superbly, he got above Moses but couldn't direct it on target.

Good to see the wing-backs working together and supporting the front men.

  19. Leicester are deep, very deeppublished at 17:49 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2017

    Leicester 0-1 Chelsea

Going by their touches so far, only two Leicester players have an average position in the Chelsea half. Marc Albrighton got forward well just now, but until then, Foxes' wing-backs in their new-look 3-5-2 formation (no.3 Ben Chilwell and no.11 Albrighton) and  have not had the same impact going forward as their opposite numbers for Chelsea.

The roles reverse, suddenly it's Leicester's wing-backs asking a question. Marc Albrighton gets forward and digs out a cross, Ben Chilwell arrives from the left to spring and connect with a header... wide.

He was perhaps an inch to small, allowing him to only glance the ball rather than get some forehead meat behind it. It's all about the forehead meat.
