    Benik Afobe (26 mins)

What a miserable time it is for Swansea.

Ryan Fraser is given way too much time on the left side of the area and his low cross is turned against his own post by Jordi Amat - but Benik Afobe is there for the rebound.

    Manchester United 0-0 Middlesbrough

There are two banks of blue shirts blocking Manchester United from the Middlesbrough goal, but the visiting defence is already on the desperate side. Free-kick for United, 25 yards or more out, curled way over by Paul Pogba.

I have to say, I am very impressed with the way Stoke have approached this game. They have not parked the bus and instead are open and going for it with a really impressive tempo.

A good performance so far from Mark Hughes's men, who do not look fearful and instead are having a right good go.

An excellent goal from Leicester which started with Riyad Mahrez winning possession and finished with Islam Slimani expertly steering home Marc Albrighton's pinpoint cross.

    Southampton 0-0 West Brom

Nice from Southampton record signing Sofiane Boufal.

The Moroccan international stands up his man and sends a delcious cross trickling across the face of the West Brom net.

Shane Long has not quite read his intentions though, slamming on the brakes when he should be putting pedal to metal.

  6. 'A classic striker's finish'published at 15:23 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2016

    Leicester 1-0 West Ham

    Alex Bruce
Hull City defender on Final Score

That was a classic striker's finish, headed back across the keeper. Textbook from Islam Slimani.

  7. 'Slimani brings something to the table'published at 15:22 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2016

    Leicester 1-0 West Ham

    Trevor Sinclair
Ex-Man City & West Ham winger on Final Score

Great header, good movement from Islam Slimani.

I think Leicester are a better team with Slimani, but there's something else wrong with the team. There's something wrong with the motivation, but Slimani definitely brings something to the table.

    Boy had this been coming.

West Ham had already been warned about the Marc Albrighton-Islam Slimani combo - but they did not heed it.

Albrighton whips in a cross so tasty you'd want to smother it in brandy butter and Slimani thumps in the header at the back post.

  9. EFL latestpublished at 15:20 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2016

It's taken 10 minutes for us to see our first goal in the English Football League and it's come in League Two. Carlisle United lead 1-0 at Notts County thanks to Charlie Wyke's strike.

That's it for goals, though. A slow start to the afternoon's action.

  10. CLOSE!published at 15:20 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2016

    Chelsea 0-0 Stoke

It is still scoreless, but I don't think Lee Grant knew much about that save.

The Stoke goalkeeper threw himself to his left and Diego Costa's full-blooded half-volley thudded off his chest.

The ball ricocheted across goal, pinballed off Bruno Martins Indi and straight back into Grant's grateful gloves.

    Swansea 0-0 Bournemouth

First chance of the game falls to Bournemouth.

Simon Francis has plenty of time down the right side of the area and rolls it to Junior Stanislas on the edge of the box.

He hits a stinging, rising effort that Lukasz Fabianski gets a fingertip to.

  12. Postpublished at 15:19 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2016

    Manchester United 0-0 Middlesbrough

Boro have had to weather a storm, but they have caused problems of their own. It's Adama Traore again, driving down the right, pulling the ball all the way back to left-back George Friend. His shot hits a wall of red, but there's been enough so far to suggest the visitors can threaten David de Gea's goal.

    Leicester City 0-0 West Ham

And here go Leicester again - razor sharp breaking.

Ben Chilwell releases Demarai Gray down the left wing and his dinked cross eludes every blue-shirted player.

    Man Utd 0-0 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough had a couple of chances early on, but it's all Manchester United now. The hosts have all but two of their outfield players in the opposition half, compared to just one for Middlesbrough.

Manchester United have had 70% of the possession, can the visitors keep them at bay?

  15. Postpublished at 15:17 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2016

    Chelsea 0-0 Stoke

Eden Hazard pokes a sly little backheel towards Diego Costa, but it is cut out just before the Spain international can latch on and race in on goal.

The Stamford Bridge crowd ooh and aah in appreciation.

  16. Postpublished at 15:16 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2016

    Leicester City 0-0 West Ham

Leicester are showing little sniffles of that tasty counter-attacking stuff they strutted last season.

Islam Slimani holds up a long ball, lays it off to Demarai Gray who then slips in Riyad Mahrez down the left, only for Winston Reid to get in a timely block.

There's plenty of time yet, Jay.

  18. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 15:15 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2016

    Manchester United 0-0 Middlesbrough

This would have been special. A Paul Pogba overhead kick bounces off the post, denying Manchester United a goal-of-the-season contender. Cross from the left, head back across from Henrik Mkhitaryan, Pogba's athletic effort hitting the woodwork. He was in an offside position, but that wouldn't have stopped it from counting...

  19. Postpublished at 15:15 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2016

    Chelsea 0-0 Stoke

A quality piece of defending from Cesar Azpilicueta who slides in to clear a low, skidding cross from Xherdan Shaqiri.

That could have been nasty for Chelsea.

  20. Postpublished at 15:14 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2016

    Swansea 0-0 Bournemouth

Not much in the way of drama for caretaker Alan Curtis at Swansea.

Bournemouth are trying to pick a way through his side, but keep hitting cul-de-sacs.

The Swans have conceded 29 goals in their last 11 games - so defensive stability will be top of their new year resolution list.
