No club has defended the Champions League trophy since it became the Champions League.

You'd back Real Madrid from here, wouldn't you?

Done as much as he can?

Not sure if you agree guys but how is Simeone going to take this Atletico side and win the Champions League and be the best team in Europe when they can't beat Real in 5 attempts? Maybe he's done amazing up until now but he's not the man to take them to the next level and be that elite club to challenge in the games against the big boys. Just a thought?

  5. 'Much more than we expected'published at 22:12 British Summer Time 2 May 2017

    Real Madrid 3-0 Atletico Madrid

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos on BT Sport: "It's a very good result, much more than we expected, but it is just the first leg.

"We had the extra man in midfield and we controlled the game, we were able to pass the ball in dangerous areas.

"We deserved the win but now we go to the Calderon.

"It is great to have a player like Ronaldo. You need someone to score to get the result and he is unbelievable."

It is amazing really that Cristiano Ronaldo has had to ask - as he did against Bayern Munich in the last round - for some patience from the crowd.

Maybe they'll sign someone better in the summer eh?

  7. 'Don't whistle me'published at 22:06 British Summer Time 2 May 2017

    Real Madrid 3-0 Atletico Madrid

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo: "It was a total team match.

"We have a good advantage, but this is not closed. Atletico is very strong, they are not in the semi-finals by chance and we have to concentrate on Wednesday."

Ovation of the Bernabeu: "I just want you not to whistle me. Otherwise, I will always try to give everything for them."

This is not a cheap defence, this is not a side who give away goals cheaply. This is a side that has Diego Godin that back line and Cristiano Ronaldo absolutely tore that defence apart tonight.

I feel embarrassed to say Cristiano Ronaldo is greater than Messi but you just need to see his performance tonight - he is 32 and has scored a hat trick in the semi-final of the Champions League.

I have goosebumps here thinking of that performance.

One without the other wouldn't be as successful. What sets them apart from every other player, is that they deliver on the big occasions.

Muscab Ali: Ronaldo is a good goal scorer but he is not at the level of Messi, there is a a difference between an eagle and a falcon

Antony Short: Messi or Ronaldo, who cares, let's just enjoy it while it lasts

Messi and Ronaldo are the best players who have ever lived but I am biased because I saw the sacrifices Ronaldo made at Manchester United to be as good as he is.

Carrington training ground was about two or three miles around and he used to take a ball and run the whole way around doing his tricks all the way and that was after training.

His professionalism is staggering - he will go home tonight, get in an ice bath, he will be refuelling with the right food and taking care of himself.

  13. 400 up?published at 21:55 British Summer Time 2 May 2017

    Real Madrid 3-0 Atletico Madrid

There seems to be a slight element of doubt over how many goals Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored for Real Madrid - but the club themselves are saying 400, so let's go with that.

Just let that sink in. Four HUNDRED goals.

If someone gets 50 for my club they are pretty much immortalised.

We can agree with that. I don't see anyone coming through who can match Ronaldo or Messi when it comes to goalscoring, do you?

We'll be back to thinking 30 goals in a season is a lot soon...

Ronaldo has been absolutely brilliant tonight. Two of his goals against Bayern were still offside though. And he did nothing against Barca the other week.

    Si

Why can't folk stop trying to work out which is better out of Messi and Ronaldo? Both beyond everyone else. Both as good as each other. One naturally gifted, the other, the hardest working player in history. End of.

    Adam, Wimborne

The Messi vs Ronaldo argument can rumble on but they are both undoubtedly MILES ahead of the next best players. Incredible talents that won't be seen again for many years.

Real Madrid were far too good tonight. They totally outclassed Atletico.

It could have been two or three at half time and we have seen some sensational footballing performances from the man of the moment.

He has put one foot into the final in Cardiff. Real Madrid keep raising the bar and I am amazed at Ronaldo's drive.

He keeps wanting to get better as a footballer - his was a "wow" performance tonight.

Sean McGreal: Diego Simeone & Atletico look utterly broken after that. No way back I fear.

DubsGuy: It's hard to argue with Phil Neville here. I know Ronaldo won't win a World Cup, but he single-handedly won Portugal the Euros.

Cristiano Ronaldo was jeered by some of the Real fans against Bayern.

    Before his hat-trick, obviously.

Now those still inside the Bernabeu are serenading the number seven as he goes through some post-match interviews.
