  1. GREAT SAVE!published at 17 mins

    Real Madrid 1-0 Atletico Madrid

And now a great chance for Atleti! Saul plays a gem of a pass behind the back four, Kevin Gameiro is in, he elects to try and go round Keylor Navas when perhaps he could have toed it past him?Either way, the keeper spreads himself and makes the block. Big opening.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 16 mins

    Real Madrid 1-0 Atletico Madrid

Wow! That is a phenomenal piece of goalkeeping from Jan Oblak!

It could, should, and so nearly was two. Atletico can't cope with the set-piece at the moment, Toni Kroos' corner is met by Raphael Varane, it's flying into the bottom corner until Oblak extends himself to push it clear.

There is a gaping hole in the middle of that usually organised Atletico defence. They are on the ropes at the moment.

Diego Simeone has just gestured to their fans asking for more energy to lift them.

Despite a good first five minutes for Atletico, it's been all Real since - their touches are on the left. Atletico (on the right) haven't even visited Real's box yet.

The home fans are understandably buoyant as Cristiano Ronaldo adds a neat backheel into the mix. they win another corner, and another.

Marcelo wants a penalty actually for handball as his cross is blocked but Martin Atkinson is not moved.

Atletico Madrid need some possession, something to stem the flow. It's one-way white traffic at the moment.

From what I've seen of him this season, that is effectively Cristiano Ronaldo's game nowadays. An absolutely ruthless penalty-area striker.

He may not score the solo runs from his own half anymore but give him a sniff and he'll score every single time.

He now has more goals in the Champions League than Atletico Madrid.

A simple header for Ronaldo. I told you he loves these big games!

Ronaldo heads home number 101published at 19:57 British Summer Time 2 May 2017

    Real Madrid 1-0 Atletico Madrid

For all the pre-match chat of Atletico's fine defending, that's pretty poor. Real's corner is not dealt with, Sergio Ramos crosses in, headed out, Casemiro sends it back in first time and Cristiano Ronaldo is head and shoulders over Stefan Savic to bury a header from six yards.

Real ramping up the pressure now. Casemiro lifts the ball into the area and almost finds Cristiano Ronaldo. Headed clear.

Ooo the Atletico keeper was lucky there - it was a fantastic run from the right back, Carvajal.

They got away with that. The goalkeeper knew nothing about it!

  14. CLOSE!published at 7 mins

    Real Madrid 0-0 Atletico Madrid

    How has that stayed out?!

Real should really be ahead. Right-back Dani Carvajal, outstanding at Bayern in the last round, plays a sweet one-two and is into the area. He hits a low shot with the outside of his right, Jan Oblak should do better than just pushing it out to Karim Benzema, who equally should do better than shoving an effort wide.

    Massive let-off for the visitors.

    Real Madrid 0-0 Atletico Madrid

Diego Simeone's side have made tackling an art form again. In one passage of play Filipe Luis wins the ball back with three separate clean tackles. No fluke that.

The men in black looking the more settled so far.

I recall Stefan Savic having a nightmare at the back for Manchester City at - I think - Loftus Road. He's certainly improved since then. He plays in the middle with Lucas Hernandez at right-back.

First shot of the night, tick 'Ronaldo speculative effort' off your bingo card. About eight rows up. And rising.

I saw Real v Napoli earlier in the competition and Real came out of the traps really fast - I would expect something similar tonight.

It's a big game for Atletico's young right back Lucas Hernandez tonight - he has already let Ronaldo know he is not going to let him have an easy game.

Great pressing again. Atletico don't give Real a second on the ball and Koke nicks it from a man in white, but they can't put the counter together and Filipe Luis' ball is overcooked.

Defending from the front. Antoine Griezmann is all over Toni Kroos and picks his pocket but ref Martin Atkinson pings him for a foul. He was away too...
