It's all a bit niggly at the minute. Saul is now in the book for a trip on substitute Nacho, not sure there was a great deal he could do about that contact.

Good pressure from Atletico, probing stuff but there's no man to Yannick Carrasco's left and the whole move comes to a halt. The Belgian resorts to throwing himself to the ground, gets a ticking off from Sergio Ramos, and Real quickly counter, Cristiano Ronaldo's cross well defended.

That is a poor tackle from Isco - he stands on the ankle of Godin - he is understandably so upset.

Isco didn't give the ball away once in the first half but he has blotted his copybook here, a tricky one, one of those where the attacker tries to charge down a clearance and ends up catching the defender high on the ankle. Looks nasty but he wasn't even looking at the man.

Koke wears a face of frustration as he is forced into a blind alley with no forward options available to him. Just not clicking for Atletico so far tonight.

Three halves of football to go in this tie of course, and an away goal in the next 45 minutes could end up being pivotal.

I can't see Diego Simeone going too gung-ho just yet, but if it's 1-0 with 10 to go they may just pull the pin.

  9. Offside?published at 20:40 British Summer Time 2 May 2017

    Real Madrid 1-0 Atletico Madrid

I didn't notice first time around but Cristiano Ronaldo was offside when the first cross went in in the build-up to his goal. It's questionable whether that would ever be given but it's a talking point.

No moment for Sergio Ramos yet. Give it time though.

Noel Fitzpatrick: Now this is football!!!...Hats off to both teams...and a shout out to the ref, he's keeping it flowing!!

John McEnerney: fast, furious & niggly bit like Diego S in his playing days. AM dangerous on the counter so Real beware

Lewis Starks: Is Ramos playing? Not because in someone's pocket but he is yet to receive a yellow/receive a red/concede a pen/score a header

Real have been too good so far for Atletico Madrid. Diego Simeone will be pleased it's only 1-0 after all the chances Real have had in this half.

Tactical analysis is good but be fair to Simeone. Atletico have always played 4-4-2 and made 2 CL finals (very nearly winning one of them). It's not the formation that's detrimental to Atletico though, it's the fact that Real are probably the best team in world football.

In my opinion, it's still all to play for. All Atletico need is just a chance from Griezmann and an away goal could change this tie completely. Simeone won't let his team just give up like this. They know what they're doing.

It looks like Carvajal has pulled his hamstring which is a real shame. He is smacking the floor, he is so disappointed - he has had a really good first half as well.

Dani Carvajal has pinged his hamstring, gone, beating the turf in frustration as Atletico play on. They have every right to of course but thankfully for the hosts it comes to nothing.

Carvajal is being attended to, both sides might be without a regular right-back at this rate. He's going to try and play on I think.

It's been such a breathtaking first half.

Atletico have had to dig in, they have been under the cosh and against the ropes for much of the game.

I wonder will Real rue the missed chances they have had so far?

In a fantasy world, where would you fit Luka Modric into the current Spurs 3-4-3 system? A dream of a player, he has to go in somewhere. So good to watch as he somehow brings the game all down to his tempo.

Real win a corner but Diego Godin climbs well to head out.

Real temporarily down to 10 men as Casemiro gets attention but Atletico can't capitalise. They do fire a cross in but Keylor Navas is dominant to claim the ball. Casemiro back on with a gob full of cotton wool.

Casemiro finds himself as the uninvited filling to a Sergio Ramos-Diego Godin sandwich, and ends up with a fat lip and a bloody mouth. A bit of a drinks break and respite for all as he gets that looked at.
